Maurice Jones-Drew leaves without a contract with Steelers

Ed Bouchette tweeted Maurice Jones-Drew has left his second meeting in as many days with the Pittsburgh Steelers without reaching a contract agreement. He also indicates that discussion with the running back are finished.

Maurice Jones-Drew's second visit with the Steelers has ended without reaching a contract agreement, per Ed Bouchette.

Jones-Drew was on his second visit with the team, after meeting on Wednesday, and it appeared there may have been some mutual interest between the Steelers and the former NFL rushing leader.

The Steelers have no running back on the roster behind second year starter Le'Veon Bell that has suited up on Sunday, and chances are they will need to find at least one veteran running back via Free Agency.

Jones-Drew was drafted by the Jaguars in 2006, and has been for the most part a productive player for them ever since. He lead the league in rushing yards in 2011, but has suffered from a variety of injuries in his career, and his play dropped of considerably in 2012 and 2013.

Jones-Drew would have been a great signing for the Steelers, but there were fears his price tag would be too steepconsidering the Steelers limited budget.

Bouchette's tweet seems to indicate that discussions with Jones-Drew are at an end, and the Steelers will now have to look elsewhere for Bell's back up.
