I think Wheaton will step up this year, meaning we only need 1 new receiving option for BB, a tall one like Street to keep him sweet.
The DL took quite a beating this off-season after losing 1 starter 1 semi-promising depth player and Keisel Currently in limbo. Although we brought in Cam Thomas and hopefully a depth DE we probably need at least 1 starter from the draft unless Arnfelt/Williams have a massive leap at this years training camp. Hopefully Tuitt/Hagemann can make an immediate contribution with Gardener out of Stanford adding more depth and between him Arnfelt and Williams hopefully one can become at least a consistent back-up.
LB depth is needed inside and out, although I think a 3 down ILB is the only logical option for drafting. Hopefully Shazier can be that, from reports I've read on his highlights video he has as good a chance as anyone. Williams can be at least average on 1st&2nd down whilst my fingers are still crossed for Spence making a comeback and being a 3rd down playmaker this coming season. At OLB I think the starters are in place but I still have serious doubts about JJ becoming even half the player he seems to have been in college. A rotation between JW, JJ & KVN could keep everyone fresh and not have KVN on the field for some of the more complex plays in his rookie year. Nix can learn from deebo (hope he comes back, I think he could provide solid back up and teach JJ and co a few moves)
CB depth is a must and if Dennard falls to where we are picking after trading down there's a chance we take him. I just don't think think the front office, MT and our defensive scheme value CB that highly though. Desir and a flyer on Colvin provide immediate depth and hopefully future production at the position without costing a high draft pick.
In the first I think if the rest of the draft goes the way I have it we have the option of taking the bpa at any position obviously excluding QB,RB and well basically that's the only 2 positions we have no need in the 1st sadly. I think the trade down allows us the DE pick in the 2nd whilst still being able to fill out depth at all our positions of need. The only players that would stop me trading down are Mack,Barr,Clowney,Watkins and Matthews. The chances of any of them being there at 15 are practically zero. Whereas one of Ebron,Donald or possibly even Mosley have a real chance of falling to the mid 20s.
A few questions I've been wondering if anyone could provide some insight please
Taking away Ben do we have the weakest roster in the division ?
Is the O starting XI set ? I think it is we just some back ups/ rotational players.
Has anyone asked MT or KC about JJ beefing up ?
Are we guessing another few comp picks next year from the steelers dealings in FA this year in next years draft ?
Why can't NFL teams trade salary cap for players or draft picks ? I think it would add another aspect to team building especially with the trend of QBs getting 15-30% of a teams salary cap
