Mock draft post Blount signing

The signing of LeGarrette Blount might have major implications for the Steelers draft as a 3rd or 4th round pick will NOT need to be used on a primary back-up RB, i.e., Terrance West or Lache Seastrunk. Instead, we can look to grab TWO solid CBs, at least one high-end WR, and reload at LB and NT. I tried this approach twice on OnTheClock.com (I used Walter Football as the program directory.) and produced the following mocks. I like the first better than the second because I think I goofed taking Taylor Hart--who's a very good football player but who doesn't project to OLB and we don't need a DE this draft. Your thoughts?

1: 15 WR MIKE EVANS, TEXAS A&M -- he fell, so I grabbed.

2: 46 LB RYAN SHAZIER, OHIO STATE -- best available value for ILB upgrade with speed (elite CBs were gone)

3: 97 CB E.J. GAINES, MISSOURI -- best available corner, quite good & shut down Evans

4: 118 DE JACKSON JEFFCOAT, TEXAS -- OLB project in case Woilds bolts next year

5: 157 RB DE'ANTHONY THOMAS, OREGON -- speed back with home run K/O return potential

5: 173 CB ANTONE EXUM, VIRGINIA TECH -- physical corner needs right DB coaches--our coaches

6: 192 DT RYAN CARRETHERS, ARKANSAS STATE--fire plug clogs the middle

6: 215 S BROCK VEREEN, MINNESOTA--good safety project for life post-Troy

7: 230 WR JEFF JANIS, SAGINAW VALLEY--good tall, speedy WR to battle Moye for 5th WR

R1 CB JUSTIN GILBERT, OKLAHOMA STATE -- no brainer, BPA for our needs and wishes

R2 WR KELVIN BENJAMIN, FLORIDA STATE -- ditto, good round two value

R3 WR DONTE MONCRIEF, OLE MISS -- highest value available [in this mock] for a 3rd round comp pick

R4 CB E.J. GAINES, MISSOURI -- this was the most attractive CB available for our needs when I chose our round 3 comp. I suspected he'd still be available in this round and he was, which meant we got the 6"3" Moncrief and his 4.4. speed without hurting our CB haul.

R5 RB DE'ANTHONY THOMAS, OREGON -- time for our change of pace, speed back

R5 DE TAYLOR HART, OREGON -- Good player, bad pick! I thought he had more OLB potential. My bad.

R6 DT RYAN CARRETHERS, ARKANSAS STATE -- a pure, run-stuffing NT

R6 S BROCK VEREEN, MINNESOTA -- good safety project for life after Troy

R7 TE COLT LYERLA, OREGON -- high risk, high reward. A problem-child head case with great speed, mismatch potential.
