The NFL has turned into a pass first and run only if you have to league. There are many here in Steeler Nation that believe that the Steelers should draft a top WR or pass-catching TE and join the rest of the league. I for one think that they should go the opposite direction offensively.
With the addition of LeGarrett Blount this year and the drafting of Leveon Bell last year, the Steelers are already in position to be a great running team. The LeBackfield could be the answer to getting the Steelers back to their rightful place, the playoffs. Every team is working on getting faster on defense to counter the pass. What I am talking about is rolling out the big packages in offense and pounding the rock. The best way to defend against these high-powered passing offenses is by controling the clock and not allowing the other teams many chances to have the ball. Every Steeler fan has to remember the benefits of a great power running team.
I am not saying to never throw the ball, I am simply saying to make the running game the priority on offense. Also along with a running offense comes a much rested defense which usually equals a better defense. With the addition of Coaches Munchak and Sax and with the O-linemen they already have on the roster the Steelers are already close to the kind of running attack I am talking about. When they do want to throw the ball they use play-action and let Big Ben do what he does best and make big plays. The difference would be once the team gets a lead they will be in a better position to keep the lead and run the clock out.
I honestly believe that this is what all Steeler fans want and it is Steeler Football. So it is time for the Steelers to make Godell mad again and it will benefit the team and the game. Godell has done everything he can do to make games a passing affair because he wants those 49 to 45 games. I would much rather see our Steelers pounding the ball down opposing teams throats and winning games 21 to 10.
In closing I think it is time that Coach Tomlin listens to Mr. Rooney and get that running game back.
LET LEBACKFIELD LOOSE!!!!
