Steelers Mock 6 Rounds

Steelers Mock

Hey everybody, this is my first post here on Behind the Steel Curtain. I’ve been a big fan of the Steelers but only recently found this site. I have paid very close attention to the draft and have a few prospects I hope the Steelers can get their hands on. So, here is my 2014 Pittsburgh Steelers Mock Draft:

1st- Assuming somebody like Martin or Lewan or Beckham falls we could trade back with NY or Mia and add an extra 3rd rounder. With the 18/19 pick we draft Kyle Fuller CB from Virginia Tech. He looks like the best scheme fit, is tall (6 ft) and come in and start right away.

2nd- This is a spot in which the only position that makes sense is WR. A player like Cody Latimer, Jordan Matthews, or Allen Robinson would all fit our needs. They are all around 6'3 and would give us a redone threat and could develop into a reliable #2.

3rd (1st) - Here we need to address the gaping hole at DE. The reason I wanted to trade down and add an extra 3rd was so we could take Taylor Hart DE or Brent Urban DE. Neither of them will last to the 97th pick, so adding this pick is crucial. Both are about 6'6 and with a year or so of grooming could emerge as a starter.

3rd- Here we add Jackson Jeffcoat OLB, a pass rushing specialist that could develop into Worlids successor with some good coaching. At the worst he provides solid depth in a lacking linebacker corp.

4th- Since the need at CB is so large a player like Ross Cockrell could be a good fit. He like Fuller posses good height (6 ft) and was a high level player at the Duke.

5th- I believe more depth is necessary at RB. A player I have wanted since I first saw him play at Oregon is DAT. He would add an explosiveness that our current backs lack. He could also double as a KR/PR.

5th- A player like Seantrel Henderson OT should he fall could be a really solid pick. As a top recruit coming out of high school he disappointed at Miami. He is very talented but has MAJOR off the field issues. If he can figure himself out, he could become our RT of the future should Adams or Gilbert not step up.

6- Ryan Carrethers NT could make sense here. He contributed at Arkansas State pretty heavily and with some development could emerge as a solid run stopper.

6- Nick Williams SS North Alabama is a player the Steelers met with so the interest in obviously there. He has great size (6’3) and reminds many scouts of Kam Chancellor of Seattle. He would be worth a shot in trying to develop.

7- I haven't looked deep enough into the draft to where I could provide analysis on players this low, but an OL, DL, P, and LB would all make sense for our needs. We've found contributors in this round recently, such as Kelvin Beachum so success is not impossible.
