Signing bonus given to Maurkice Pouncey is larger than the one given to Colin Kaepernick

Maurkice Pouncey's new contract will deliver him a $13 million signing bonus, which is more than 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick received.

Sometimes size matters, and when you are talking about millions of dollars - it matters.

In today's NFL it would be absurd to think a center would garner more money in the form of a signing bonus than a starting quarterback, but that is exactly what happened with Steelers' all pro center, Maurkice Pouncey's new contract extension.

Pouncey was given $13 million dollars in the form of a signing bonus, which is more than the $12.3 million dollars that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick raked in just last week.

This shows just how strongly the Steelers feel about Pouncey, his future and his worth to the organization. Kaepernick's contract is laden with incentives and bonuses, all which could equate to a very lucrative deal for the quarterback, but the Steelers know what they have in Pouncey.

Pouncey has made the Pro Bowl every year except last year when he was injured in the first week of the season and was forced to sit out the entire 2013 season. This extension shows the organization's faith in his recovery and his ability to anchor the up and coming offensive line for the Steelers for at least another six years.

Centers don't get more signing money than quarterbacks. Well, that just happened.
