Tomlins Press Conference -Fun with words

Hello fellow fans, I had to make fun of Tomlin's press conference. My comments are after his in CAPS.

Here are some select comments from coach Mike Tomlin and players from Saturday night’s locker room, as transcribed by the New York Giants:

Mike Tomlin

Obviously we didn’t win the game, but often is the case in a preseason. OH, IS THAT THE NEW STANDARD, TO ROUTINELY LOSE THE PRE-SEASON GAMES ? LET ME KNOW BECAUSE NEXT TIME I WILL CHANGE MY EXPECTATIONS.

There were some positives, some negatives, some things to build upon moving forward. UH, THERE WERE MOSTLY NEGATIVES AND MUCH TO BUILD ON.

We’ll look at the tape in an effort to get better. I DON'T HAVE TO LOOK AT THE TAPE AND I KNOW WHERE YOU NEED TO GET BETTER.

People had an opportunity to grow and we learned some things about some people. GEEZ, IS THIS GROUP THERAPY?

We’ll just take this as part of the process and move forward as a team. I'M GLAD THAT LOSING IS PART OF YOUR JOURNEY AND YOU WANT TO TURN A NEGATIVE INTO A POSITIVE. GROUP THERAPY CAN HELP WITH THAT. PRACTICE CAN TOO.

From an injury standpoint, we got out of the game relatively clean. THANK GOD! AND WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T ALLOW BEN TO GET HURT. THIS IS PRIORITY NUMBER ONE!

Ramon Foster got poked in the eye, but I don’t know that there’s going to be any long-term ramification from that. Other than that, just normal bumps and bruises from playing. THEY CAN SHARE THEIR AILMENTS IN THE NEXT GROUP THERAPY SESSION. EMOTIONAL HEALING IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS THE PHYSICAL HEALING. IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU ALREADY KNOW THIS.

Obviously it would’ve been nice to continue that situation there at the end of the football game and seeing if we’re capable of stringing together enough plays to do it. GOOD PLAN. STRING TOGETHER ENOUGH PLAYS TO "DO IT." THIS IS PRIORITY NUMBER 2.

But we turned the ball over and we’ve got to live with that. YES, TURNING THE BALL OVER PREVENTS YOU FROM STRINGING TOGETHER ENOUGH PLAYS TO "DO IT." YOU SHOULD HAVE A SPECIAL BREAK-OUT TRAINING SESSION ON THIS TOPIC IN CAMP. IT CAN BE TITLED, "HOW TO DO IT," OR " FUMBLES-WHY ARE THEY NOT GOOD."

You turn the ball over in situational football, it costs you; it did tonight. WHAT OTHER TYPE OF FOOTBALL IS THERE OTHER THAN "SITUATIONAL FOOTBALL?" I SUPPOSE IF YOU TURN THE BALL OVER IN NON-SITUATIONAL FOOTBALL IT'S OK. HMMMM, I DON'T LIKE THIS PLAN AT ALL. MAYBE THE PLAYERS WERE CONFUSED OVER WHAT KIND OF FOOTBALL THEY WERE PLAYING. I THINK A BREAK-OUT TRAINING SESSION ON THIS ISSUE IS REALLY IMPORTANT.

But there are several things that cost us: we missed a makeable field goal, gave up a long run, and things of that nature.OK, LOOK AT THE TAPE IF YOU HAVE TO AND FIND OUT WHAT "THINGS OF THAT NATURE" IS. MAKE A LIST AND PRACTICE ON THOSE THINGS. AND DON'T FORGET THE GROUP THERAPY TOO.

We’ll look at it with a mind toward improving and win next week.AWESOME, IMPROVEMENT IS ALWAYS GOOD. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU IDENTIFY THE "IT" AND "THINGS" THAT NEED IMPROVEMENT.

THANKS,
