To make the amount of money they're making it amazes me that they just can't say "NO" to a drug of choice. But let's forget about the money and think about the kind of people we are dealing with here, what kind of character do these two men really posses?
Let's start with LeVeon Bell - Throughout training camp he was held out of full contact scrimmages, sparingly used during the first two pre-season games and treated as though he was a 10 year vet that paid his dues to the team and the city. He was honored in front of thousands of fans and the city of Pittsburgh as the team's rookie of the year during the Buffalo game. He was showcased and presented like the future of the franchise, a consummate pro that was bound to uphold the Steeler tradition of hard work and pride. And then he reveals himself as an immature selfish and an irresponsible adult.
Then there's LeGarette Blount - The puncher, the one who was cut after 5 days in Tennessee and given a 2nd chance in Tampa. Then made a semi-positive name for himself in New England with a third chance. We should've known the slim market for him was because of his character and not because of an under-valued perspective on running backs. Not too many times in life does a person have an opportunity to repair his image, just ask Kobe, Tiger and few others who could afford to pay agencies like Olivia Pope's to "fix it". Here was your opportunity to guide a young man on his responsibilities of how to conduct himself as "PRO" and at the same time portray yourself as a dependable leader and you BLEW IT. LeBum is just another Travis Henry, Bobby Humphrey, Lawrence Phillips and/or Maurice Clarett, he's just been luckier than those guys to be able to play lomger without being exposed.
As a person with self respecting values and integrity you do not let this happen to yourself. I know and understand that young people make mistakes, money or not, but when you're in both of their shoes, this is something you do not allow to happen. What were they thinking? I mean they had a flight to catch for a very important business meeting tomorrow night and they were out and about early in the afternoon acting like high school teenagers. At first glance I wanted to blame Blount because of his past but hearing more of the story, it doesn't matter who was the ring leader, you have two grown men acting like irresponsible idiots.
Yes things like this go on in professional sports and we may not hear about it but unfortunately for these two LeDummies WE HEARD ABOUT IT and we're forced to judge it. Is it as bad as Ray Rice's incident? Is it as bad as Robert Irsay's (in which the league wishes incidents like these won't happen so we're not reminded of the soon to come due punishment of an owner) incident or even Johnny Menziel's flipping of the bird? I say YES!!!!! They could've killed someone or themselves and they're not representing themselves as the professionals they impersonated during training camp when they signed little kids' autographs. Forget the back to back 8 an 8's, we're talking moral character here, a responsible ability to make smart decisions and these two do not reflect that. We the paying fans shouldn't be forced to cheer for such idiots nor should their co-workers be forced to co-habitat with them in the locker room and on the field.
Here's to hoping Colbert and Tomlin come down hard on them like they did with Tone, Rainey and Ta'amu. If they don't I urge all of you in Steeler Nation to put the franchise on a 4 game season suspension by not watching or attending those games. At some point in time these dumb a$$e$ have to hold themselves accountable and be responsible working citizens. I know majority of you readers do not hang with idiots so my thought process is this; why should we pay to watch some idiots? Keep your track record strong Mr. Rooney and apply a discipline just short of career death so they get the message and we can continue rooting for our Steelers with pride.
Good night LeDumb A$$e$!!!
