Steelers Mike Adams victim of stabbing, robbery attempt in Pittsburgh Saturday

Jason Bridge-US PRESSWIRE

Adams was allegedly the victim of a robbery attempt on Pittsburgh's South Side early Saturday morning. The team released a statement confirming the incident, saying Adams is expected to make a full recovery.

Steelers offensive tackle Mike Adams is recovering and said to be ok after suffering stab wounds in an alleged robbery attempt early Saturday in Pittsburgh's South Side.

His Tweet, posted Saturday morning, indicates he is ok, and all reports suggest he is ok despite the scare.

The Steelers released a statement on the incident Saturday.

"We are aware of the situation regarding Mike Adams being stabbed earlier this morning," Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert said. "We are in direct communication with both Mike and his family. Mike is expected to make a full recovery."

According to Adams' agent Eric Metz (via NFL.com's Aditi Kinkhabwala), three men were trying to steal the young lineman's truck outside of his home and Adams was stabbed in the stomach while trying to stop it. Fortunately, no vital organs were damaged and he came out of surgery around 8 a.m.

All things considered, Adams was very lucky that it was not much worse.

Adams is expected to be the team's starting right tackle in 2013, one year after he was drafted in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Adams was given the team's Joe Greene Great Performance Award last year as the team's top rookie player.
