Former Steelers coach Bill Cowher wrecks Mercedes in Manhattan crash

Matthew Emmons-US PRESSWIRE

Cowher and a female passenger were unharmed in the Sunday afternoon accident.

Former Steelers coach and current CBS NFL analyst Bill Cowher was involved in a multi-car wreck in the Upper East Side of Manhattan Sunday, the New York Post reported.

A witness on the scene said both cars were significantly damaged, and noted it was "amazing" no one was hurt.

Cowher recently purchased a pricey condo in Manhattan, which cooled thoughts of him returning to the sidelines in 2012 for any team outside of the Giants and the Jets. However, considering Giants coach Tom Coughlin is among the oldest head coaches in the game, and back-to-back disappointing seasons and a new general manager with the Jets, a potential landing spot for Cowher may be available in the near future.

Cowher resigned his head coaching position with the Steelers, the only head coach job he's ever had, in 2006. He is the only head coach in NFL history to guide his team to the playoffs in his first six seasons - a feat Ravens coach John Harbaugh will duplicate if Baltimore, the defending Super Bowl champion, qualifies for the postseason in 2013.

Cowher has been working with CBS since 2007.
