Steelers, Bills will share three training camp practices this year

A little variety may be just what the Steelers need to get back on track after two consecutive .500 campaigns. Or maybe it'll just be something each team does for the sake of doing it.

It's not exactly the Hatfields and McCoys, or even the Steelers and Browns, but perhaps a new rivalry of sorts has been born.

The Bills and Steelers share three practice sessions in training camp this season, all three at St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa., writes Buffalo News reporter Tim Graham.

Three workouts would happen this year at the Steelers' camp in Latrobe, Pa. They would meet at St. John Fisher College next summer.

Bills general manager Doug Whaley came from the Steelers' scouting department, and along with a list of former Steelers dotted along the Bills' roster, he's clearly looking to establish ties to his former employer.

A few teams already do this, and the NFL still needs to grant permission for the clubs to have such interaction during training camp, but it seems like a win-win for both teams. After a while, they'll get tired of not hitting their own quarterbacks, so perhaps not hitting an opposing quarterback will be a change of pace.

The Steelers defeated the Bills 23-10 in Week 9 of the 2013 season.
