LaMarr Woodley questions decision to leave for London late in the week

Harry Engels

The Steelers left late in the week for London, a decision that doesn't seem to be much appreciated by a few members of the Steelers.

Two different teams, nary a win between them. One left early for London, the other stayed behind.

Steelers outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley seems to be in something of a disagreement over his team's choice to practice in Pittsburgh this past week, then make the seven and a half hour flight to London.

Tribune-Review reporter Alan Robinson wrote about Woodley, bleary-eyed and sleep-deprived, quoting him as saying, "It would have been nice (to have traveled earlier), but we didn't. We've just got to deal with it. We can't do anything now."

Robinson pointed out the Vikings, representing the home team in this game, have more responsibilities during the week in London than the Steelers do, such has hosting a youth clinic sponsored by the NFL. They had more things to do, hence, more reason to arrive early. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, though, wasn't planning on following standard protocol of adjusting to large time-zone changes.

"If, after practice, we're exhausted and we feel like going to bed, we're going to go to bed," he said.

The Steelers and Vikings kick off at 6 p.m. local time, which is 1 p.m. in Pittsburgh, on Sunday. Just getting to the game seems to be more of the challenge the Steelers will face.

Meanwhile, the Vikings have likely adjusted to the time difference. Maybe they'll both be jet-lagged to an extent, but it doesn't seem the Steelers had adjusted well immediately following their arrival.

Let's see how they look on that opening kickoff.
