The Pittsburgh Steelers didn't waste any time releasing LeGarrette Blount on Tuesday, and they didn't waste much time filling his spot on the active roster.
The team announced they have promoted rookie running back Josh Harris from Wake Forest to their active roster.
Harris has spent the entire season on the Steelers' practice squad and was a pleasant surprise in the preseason carrying the football. Harris will now get a chance to prove his worth at the NFL level, as he's almost guaranteed a helmet on Sundays as the third running back on the team's depth chart.
There were reports circulating the Steelers might look to free-agency to fill their need at running back, but those proved to be false. Even with the Cleveland Browns releasing Ben Tate on Tuesday, it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that the Steelers chose to fill the void in-house.
Harris will have some time to get acclimated to his new role in the Steelers' organization, as the team is embarking on their bye-week, but will get to see his first game action when the New Orleans Saints come to Heinz Field in Week 13.
