Since other hacks apparently think this is a cool idea, we again get to saturate our own market by running the exact same stuff as others. There really isn't the traffic in this you think there is. Just an FYI, writing decent headlines is much more effective than trying to mooch off other people. Just sayin'.
Anyway, we're back at it, on the ever-important Cutdown Day Eve. Five questions for days like this really aren't too tough. First, we'd like to send a big best wishes and good luck to our hero, Paper Champions, who is in no grave danger or suffering from illness. He's just got a big thing and we're all rooting for him.
Getting down to it...as always, you must announce your beverage, there is to be no discussion of Motley Crue's post-1980s demise, and if you haven't given us money, we're totally open to you doing it now.
1. B.W. Webb. Who is he? What is he doing here? Who's getting cut because of him?
2. Along those same lines, if you're a Steelers player, how do you feel about this? It's not as if the team just signed Darrelle Revis or anything. This is a guy who has been released from one of the poorest defensive teams the league has seen in the last decade. Guys who battled throughout camp and fought through four preseason games are going to lose what could have been their roster spot for a player who will make it now despite not having played a down for this team. On the other hand, Tomlin's job is to make the team better and sometimes that means making unpopular decisions. What say you?
3. Whatever the reason why Jordan Zumwalt was placed on injured reserve (most groin injuries do not require months to heal), it's clearly part of the age-old, rarely discussed axiom among NFL coaches to have something of a redshirt system for players. Zumwalt likely could heal and be able to play after a few weeks, I've heard. But no team would take him right away, and this way he continues with meetings and such. Should the NFL implement a full-time, recognized redshirt-style system?
4. My uncle is in from out of town for the Pitt game tomorrow. He's given me an assignment tonight - sample beers from two cases he purchased "a while ago" and confirm with him whether it's good or bad. He's not a beer drinker. I'm more than happy to comply with such a request, but my question is simple, is there a difference between a skunky Miller Light or Yuengling and a regular Miller Light or Yuengling? I'm not noticing it so far.
5. Who's the one player you will be most upset to see cut tomorrow? And you can't say Dan McCullers. C'mon, I gave him the Redman Award already. Let's expand our boundaries here.
