When the Pittsburgh Steelers selected cornerback Artie Burns in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the fan base quickly learned about his tragic back story. A father incarcerated for over 20 years with drug chargers, a mother who suddenly dies of a heart attack during his junior season and Artie taking his two younger brothers and adopting them. All of this while he and his girlfriend welcomed their first child.
The local media asked Burns a lot of questions regarding his situation, but the young cornerback brushed them away with ease. However, this offseason Burns was a guest on the People's List where he spoke openly about his life off the football field.
