Jacksonville Jaguars 2008 Draft Preview

Though it didn't make a lot of headlines given Jacksonville's small-market status, the team lost significant contributors such as former Pro Bowl defensive tackle Marcus Stroud (trade to the Bills), leading tackler and safety Sammy Knight (Giants), steady wideout Ernest Wilford (Dolphins) and former double-digit sack man Bobby McCray (Saints) during the early days of free agency. Of the voids left above, the only one filled was at wideout, where castoffs Jerry Porter (Raiders) and Troy Williamson (Vikings) were decent pick-ups. Thus, look for the Jags to target at least two ready-to-play defensive linemen and a safety that can contribute with its initial spate of picks. The other area that could get some attention is linebacker, where Jacksonville has had some injury problems and could use better depth.
