Mike Tomlin held his weekly preseason press conference today, and during the conference he outlined injuries that could effect the playing time of several players in the Pittsburgh Steelers' second preseason game against the Buffalo Bills on Saturday.
Tomlin emphasized that even players that were listed will still be given until the "eleventh hour" until the final decision is made on playing time.
Rookie inside linebacker Ryan Shazier, who has yet to take the field in an exhibition in a Steelers' uniform, is still on the questionable list with what Tomlin declared a "knee bruise". Shazier has yet to participate in 11 on 11 team drills since returning to practice for individual drills.
Second year outside linebacker Jarvis Jones continues to be hampered by a groin injury that could have him sitting out the game against the Bills Saturday.
Rookie tight end Rob Blanchflower continues his progression back to the field after a high ankle sprain, and Tomlin seemed optimistic that Blanchflower could see playing time for the second preseason game.
Vince Williams continues to heal after a concussion he was dealt in practice on Tuesday, but the IMPACT tests that are NFL protocol will all have to be passed before Williams even thinks about stepping on the field again.
A long list of injuries, but ones that don't seem to be the long-term variety. All good news for the Steelers heading ito Week 2 of the preseason.
