Big Day for NFL news

There's been quite a bit a NFL news for a Tuesday.  First, and I only list this first because this could effect the Steelers, the Raven's Trevor Price will miss 3 to 5 weeks with a broken wrist.  Price led the Ravens in sacks last year with 13 and is a 4-time Pro Bowler. This probably wouldn't be a big deal if the Raven's didn't already have numerous injuries to deal with (Ray Lewis, Jonathen Ogden, and Steve McNair).  He should be back by the time the Steelers and Raven meet up in week 9 though.  Hopefully these injuries continue to pile up and the Ravens suffer through a pathetic season.

Byron Leftwich has a new home in Atlanta today after signing a two year deal worth $7 million.  It'll be interesting how quickly he's able to pick up the offense.  In the end though he could play like an MVP and this team will still pick in the top five in next April's draft.

The Cowboys have signed suspended defensive tackle Tank Johnson today.  Dallas lost their starting tackle for the year in week 1 so this has been anticipated for a week now.  Tank won't be able to step on the field in practice or a game until week 10 because of his suspension (the Boys have a bye week in week 9 so that doesn't count as a game towards his suspension).  Who knows what kind of shape he'll be in by that time so his impact might not be felt until the playoffs.  I would say he has to learn the defense but what does a defensive tackle have to learn in the 3-4 besides not get driven back and take up as many lineman as possible.

leftwich
i've always liked him, i hope he does well in atlanta but like you said that team is a mess right now. then again what team in the nfc isn't? I wouldn't be suprised if Leftwich has much more success playing against the NFC.

Yeah
Atlanta may not be in quite as much trouble as everyone thinks. There are worse 0-2 teams talent wise than them.  Being 0-2 puts them in a major bind, but the NFC South is the one division in the NFC that may be won with fewer than 10 wins.

There have been some interesting rumors
floating around the DFW area today that Dallas signed Tank this week so that they could try to get some 'inside' info on Chicago's defense.  I hadn't thought about that aspect before but it does make you question their timing a bit.  I wouldn't think there have been many teams beating down his door since he's been out there as a free agent for most of the offseason.
