Truzenzuzex is, as you can plainly see, an alien life form who's ancestors were of the phylum Arthropada, known collectively as the Thranx. Created by the science fiction author Alan Dean Foster, Truzenzuzex, or Tru, is a character who appears in Foster's Flinx of the Commonwealth series. The Thranx are a peaceful and beneficent race which have formed an intimate bond with humanity, creating an amalgam known as the Humanx Commonwealth.
Tru is an Eint and First Philosph, or theoretical philosopher. His specialties are the history and trajectory of civilization and galactic anthropology. Along with his friend and former ship-brother, retired Chancellor Second of the United Church Bran Tse-Mallory, Tru explores the universe attempting to gain insight into the many mysteries which impinge upon the Humanx condition.
I chose Tru as my avatar because I fancy that, like he of Foster's imagination, my years have left me wiser and more amenable to reason and logic. Like Tru, I am no longer young, and I think the benefits of that fact outweigh the negatives.
My real name is Glenn Logan and I am a small business owner currently living in Louisville, Kentucky. I have been a Kentucky fan since about age 12, when I moved to the Commonwealth from Bristol, Tennessee. I attended Western Kentucky University and spent six years as a reactor operator in the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Olympia, SSN 717, a Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine.
I have been married to the former Petra Carr since May of 1987.

Football power conferences not so hot on the hardwood
Well, the guy has a point, but just for this year. Both the Big 12 and the SEC are likely to be a lot better next year.
Still, I am getting tired of hearing about the point guard thing over and over. But I suppose I'll have to get used to it.
Vanderbilt @ Kentucky: How does this foe make you feel?
Personally, I have been waiting for this game all year long. Like most UK fans, I have not forgotten last year at Memorial Gymnasium. It would be nice to forget that, but I can't. So I intend to revisit that game, just to remind eveyone about it:
Here's a little taste from last year:
"To have them to stomp us into the ground like that, it's horrible," freshman Patrick Patterson said. "They played like men, and we played like boys."
Still smiling, huh?

Basketball Blogpoll -- Week 6
I forgot (or more correctly, got too busy) to post this last week. But this week's Basketball Blogpoll has just gone final, and there have been a vast number of changes in the poll.
First, we'll look at my ballot, and then we'll look at the final poll results.

Morning Newspaper for January 8th
Harvard University (yes, that Harvard) has beaten Boston College in basketball. Does this mean that Tommy Amaker's efforts at Harvard (lowering academic standards for athletes and, according to this article, violating ncaa rules) are bearing fruit?
And now, for news:

"Oh the sun shines bright..."
So this is what the scuffle was about!
This piece is an absolute classic. I pity da foo who jeers at Kentucky's anthem.

Morning Newspaper for January 7th
Vanderbilt is now on the horizon, and the beginning of SEC play. Last year, Vanderbilt was the springboard for the Wildcats' amazing run through the SEC. Will that happen again this year?
Now, for the news.

How much do turnovers hurt? This much
We hear all the talk about how turnovers are hurting this Kentucky team, and anyone who has a whit of basketball IQ knows that it's true. But sometimes, it's hard to figure out just how much they are hurting, and if all turnovers are created equal.
So to help analyze this question, I have taken the five BCS school games from the UK out of conference schedule and analyzed the turnovers for your edification here at A Sea of Blue. Here is how the gruesome truth looks when looking at the true cost of turnovers.
We'll be examining turnovers from several angles, including the raw cost in terms of points as well as the opportunity cost.

UK’s turnover virus John Clay’s Sidelines
John Clay makes a compelling argument why UK's turnover problems are holding it back.
I think he's right.

Time to move along to the SEC Season. 11-4 is not horrible for the OOC portion of our schedule, and even though we didn't manage to defeat many NCAA tournament-quality teams, we will have some chances from here on out. Kentucky needs to make the best of that.
And now, the news:
