Fantasy Football
It looks like many of us here at BTSC are fantasy football fans. I myself have always tried to avoid picking Steelers on my fantasy teams for a few reasons.
1- I already have a vested interest in EVERY Steelers game that comes on the tube; unlike matchups between the Chiefs and the Vikings, which I would only watch if there were some of my fantasy studs playing the game.
2- Steelers games are already stressful enough without having to worry about Big Ben needing to throw 3 touchdowns to win this week’s matchup.
3- I prefer for others in my league to own Steelers players so that they know what it is like to be part of the best franchise in sports history.
Anyways I saw this article on IGN. They basically did a simulated season using the 2009 version of Madden, and looked at who had the best stats in the league and who would have had the most fantasy points. I won’t ruin the surprise for you with whom they said would be the biggest fantasy stud, but I will tell you that I was so excited I nearly wet myself.

Steelers Sign Rashard Mendenhall and Limas Sweed
According to their official site, the Steelers have inked their first round draft pick Rashard Mendenhall today. Financial terms were not disclosed immediately, although the details will come out soon.
Hopefully the steelers will be able to get Limas Sweed under contract before Sunday. I am excited and relieved now that we at least have Mendenhall inked. Any other fans have reactions about the signing? When do you think we will get Sweed Signed I am guessing today or tomorrow at the latest.
Update: That didn't take long. The Post Gazette reports that the Steelers have signed Limas Sweed. All 6 draft picks will be present and accounted for in camp.
HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!

Steelers Lose to the Patriots, Again in the Confrence Finals
MADDEN 09, SIMULATION OF SEASON.
Well according to the Madden 2009 simulation of the 2008 NFL season the Steelers will win the AFC North, beat the Colts, and lose to the Patriots in the Confrence Finals. I hate those Patriots, we can't even seem to find a way to beat them in a simulation.
Anyways I thought it was an interesting article. Any thoughts on how realistic the simulation will be? Where do you think the Steelers will end up this year? Which players on the team do you think will have a pro-bowl year? Who do you think will slip a bit in 2008?
Personally I think Polomalu, Big Ben, Woodley, and Harrison will have big years and all be in position to make the pro-bowl. I also think Fast Willie will have an above average year, with Mendenhall picking up some tuff yards and the majority of our rushing touchdowns.
Anyways, I hoping, wishing, and praying that the Steelers win it all in the 2008-2009 NFL!

Strahan's Retirement
I remember a while back a blog from Redskins' Tight End Chris Cooley was posted on here and he has written another great write-up in regards to Michael Strahan's retirement.
I have posted the link below and I really think it is interesting to hear one football players take on another. Just thought someone might be interested...
I personally really didn't follow Strahan's career but it was interesting to hear a competitors take on how Strahan approached the game. Who knows if Strahan will return to football or not, but I'm sure he will have a sucessful career in broadcasting if he so chooses.
Also speaking of people who could have a career in the Media Chris Cooley of the Redskins is VERY interesting to read and living in the DC area I also have had the chance to hear him on the Radio and believe he could have a long career in the Media as well.
Do you think Strahan will be back in the NFL?
What network will he be working for in the Fall?

Great Write up About the Steelers...
Draft keeps Steelers a leg up in AFC North
What a great article by the Sporting News' Vinny Iyer. He really highlights why the Steelers are the Steelers, and the Brown's are the Brown's.
I thought it also made me feel better about our Past Drafts and give more reassurance about the 08' draft.
"Just look at some of their projected starters this season. Tight end Heath Miller, left guard Chris Kemoeatu, wide receiver Santonio Holmes, right tackle Willie Colon, inside linebacker Lawrence Timmons, outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley and punter Daniel Sepulveda were drafted over the three previous Aprils. Several other recent draftees are in place as key backups and future replacements. "
