Making the Grade: The Linebackers....

The linebacking corps of the Steelers actually had a pretty good game on Sunday. Clark Hagans and Joey Porter each had 6 tackels, with Hagans collecting a sack as well. Both of them, plus James Farrior and Larry Foote did a nice job in run support, rarely allowing RBs LT and Michael Turner much daylight in the running game. I'm starting to think though that this is just a good unit, not a great unit. Let me rephrase that actually. This may be a great unit collectively, but none of the aforementioned players is truly a game-chaning player a la Ray Lewis or Shawne Merriman. That's not to say they aren't capable of making big plays, it's just not going to happen as frequently as we may like. Nevertheless, if the group can continue to play like they have thus far this season, the onus will rest not on them, but on the secondary to help take our defense to the next level.
