*Things aren't looking too bright in Washington. Clinton Portis, Santana Moss, Antwaan Randle-El, and Mark Brunell all sat out of practice yesterday . The Redskins are looking to turn around their season this Sunday when they take on they revitalized Dallas Cowboys.

*Despite his struggles last night against the New England Patriots, Minnesota head coach Brad Childress is sticking with Brad Johnson as his QB.

*San Diego LB Shawne Merriman has dropped his appeal of the four-game suspension he was issued for violating the league's steroid policy. I was thinking about this earlier this morning. Why doesn't the mainstream media, or any of us for that matter, pay more attention to when NFL players use steroids, while throwing up our arms in self-righteous disgust when baseball players do?

*Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio isn't saying who will be his starting quarterback this week against the Tennessee Titans. If Leftwich is healthy enough to play, I'd presume he'd get the nod. But, David Garrard does seem to find a way to win football games when Leftwich is on the sidelines.

*Miami QB Daunte Culpepper is still experience significant soreness in his surgically repaired knee . Culpepper is eyeing the Nov. 19th against the Vikings to return, but head coach Nick Saban says it's still too early to put any sort of timetable on his return.
