The two accidents that immediately come to mind are the ones suffered by Jason Williams and Kellen Winslow Jr. Williams of the Chicago Bulls hasn't played since his accident in 2003. Kellen Winslow Jr. of the Browns missed all of his rookie campaign after sustaining internal injuries and damage to his right knee and shoulder.
It should be noted that nearly all of these players missed significant time while recovering.
Here's hoping Ben's an exception and is able to play in 2006. For now, let's just worry about his general safety and health.
