Proving once and for all that Steelers fans are, without any doubt, clinically insane, we get this bit of news from Pittsburgh: fans are threatening violence against the woman who struck Big Ben with her vehicle. It's outrageous enough that I don't know whether to laugh or cry. What is entirely clear is that the Steeler Nation is officially out of control.
Appropriately, it calls to mind the ludicrous fandom you see in soccer crazy nations, where referees are burned at the stake, and a poor performance in an international match can necessitate a player hiding Witness Protection style.
Aside from the absurdity of threatening to hurt this woman, Steeler Nation may need to be reminded that Ben chose not to wear a helmet. You won't find a bigger (sane) Big Ben fan than me, but this goes far beyond acceptable fandom. Get a grip, folks.
