*A group headed by former NCAA President Cedric Dempsey will present their plans Wednesday in New York for a new spring minor league . The proposed league will take place on the campuses of colleges around the country, and will feature only those athletes who have graduated from college and have used all their eligibility. I don't think there's room for another professional football league, even if the franchises are located in college-town markets. The concept is interesting though.
*Add Deion Branch to the list of players planning on sitting out training camp. Branch is unhappy with the offer tendered by the Patriots, and perhaps he has an argument. Branch had a career year last year, leading the Patriots with 78 catches for 998 yards.

*The Steelers report to camp on Friday. Some teams open tomorrow, but perhaps the extra day will give the team the needed time to make sure Holmes is signed and ready to go for the first session.
