*The Steelers avoided the injury bug in their first preseason game. Not the case for the Minnesota Vikings, who lost their first-round draft pick Chad Greenway to a season-ending injury . The rookie linebacker tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) on kickoff coverage.
*The Redskins are confident that RB Ladell Betts can fill the void while Clinton Portis recovers from his dislocated shoulder. Portis is expected to return by the season opener, but Betts will see the field plenty regardless. He runs well, blocks, and can catch the ball out of the backfield.
*David Garrard was certainly deserving of a place on my Top 5 Offensive Performers of week 1. Garrard finished 6-11 for 132 yards and two TDs. Last year, Garrard helped the Jaguars secure a playoff berth when starter Byron Leftwich was injured. Despite his impressive performance, head coach Jack del Rio insists there is no QB controversy in Jacksonville.
*The New Orleans Saints are confident they are going to have one of the better offenses in the NFL. According to newly acquired QB Drew Brees, their problem is going to be 'not having enough balls to go around.' . Sure they may have weapons at the skill positions, but without any blocking up front, Deuce McAllister, Drew Brees, and Reggie Bush won't have the necessary time and space to make things happen. This should be a fun team to watch.
*Tennessee Titans rookie RB, Lendale White, is embarassed and apologetic for the spitting incident that occurred during last week's practice. At one point I thought White would be a perfect fit in the Steelers system. Now I'm kind of glad we don't have that prima donna to deal with.
