*Just when Bears RB Cedric Benson seems like he's matured and is ready to perform like a top-5 draft pick, he does something dumb. Benson left the sideline during the Bears preseason win against the San Diego Chargers and also failed to attend a mandatory post-game team meeting. Head Coach Love Smith was made aware of the situation by several Bears players. When informed that he had been ratted out by several of his teamates, Benson seemed dismissive.
"That's cool," he said. "I don't care to know who. Probably ones who don't like me."
Sad for a guy who's trying to wrestle away a starting role from a plenty capable Thomas Jones. Benson's career is off to rocky start to say the least.*Buffalo Bills WR Peerless Price will be fined an undisclosed amount for inadvertently missing a scheduled team practice. This news is not nearly as shocking as the fact that Price is actually #2 receiver for an NFL team. It's going to be a long year for Buffalo's offense. *As has been noted by our friend Skin Patrol at Hogs Haven , the Redskins are at least legitimately pursuing a trade for Falcons RB TJ Duckett. Santana Moss, Clinton Portis, TJ Duckett, Antwaan Randle-El, and Brandon Lloyd? Not a bad nucleus to build your offense around. *There's a competition brewing in New England for the place-kicking duties. I think the departure of Mr. Clutch is going to cost the Pats at least two ballgames this year.
