Around the League...

*The Steelers released eight players this morning, four of whom were rookies.  The roster is now down to 75.  The final 53-man roster must be decided upon by 6 pm on Saturday, Septmeber 2nd.  One more week for the guys on the bubble to make the squad.

*Football Outsiders has ranked the coaching staffs of all 32 teams .  The Steelers check in at #2, with the Redskins assuming the top spot.  You can bet your last dollar we will be discussing this subject with Hogs Haven, but for now, I think we can all agree that both teams are well stocked in the coaching department.

*Speaking of Hogs Haven, Skin Patrol has an interesting and well-researched post on coaching trees in the NFL.  We're not all that familiar with the subject in Pittsburgh because of the amazingly long tenures of our coaches, but it's an interesting read.

*ProFootballTalk is reporting that the Titans are interested in the homeless Kerry Collins .  I'm not sure about the logic of that decision.  First, the Titans don't have the artillery to be legitimate contenders this year, so I don't see the need to have extra insurance behind Billy Volek and Vince Young.  Second, neither Volek nor Young have looked terrible this preseason, and neither are injury prone.
