A quick update on practice yesterday. Five Steelers sat out of yesterday's session: Willie Parker (hip), linebacker LaMarr Woodley (hamstring), tackle Marvel Smith and wide receiver Hines Ward (both coach's decision) and running back Gary Russell (personal).
And although Coach Tomlin hinted Big Ben might sit out yesterday's workouts, Roethlisberger not only practiced, but felt great:
"I feel great," said Roethlisberger. "I felt better than I thought I would feel."
That's huge news for us. We've gotten spoiled by Big Ben's running and evading of pass rushers, forgetting that taking off running and diving for first downs takes its physical toll on any QB, even the sturdy ones like Ben. Several things are clear about this team and its chances for the rest of the year: the offensive line is going to continue putting Ben in the occasional perilous situation and we're only going to go as far as Big Ben takes us.
Keep up the good work Roeth (who by the way, was named this week's (AFC Offensive Player of the Week), but stay safe out there!
