New Head Coach Mike Tomlin has nothing but positive things to say about QB Ben Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger insists that his struggles last year were a product of him being 'too comfortable' with the offensive scheme of Ken Whisenhunt, tempting him to try to do too much:
Whatever you say Ben, just play better this year
I'm not sure about that explanation, but regardless, Tomlin sounded impressed with Roethlisberger's outlook and approach this offseason:
Who knows how Roeth's career will shake out exactly...he's been to the top of the mountain and found himself in the lowest of valleys, all within three short years as a professional. I do know this about Big Ben: he's best when he's doubted and has his back against the wall. After making everybody's Biggest Disappointment list last year, Roethlisberger must be eager to prove his Super Bowl run was no fluke.
New circumstances present new opportunities. If he continues to handle the new circumstances as well as Tomlin says he has been, expect Big Ben to bounce back and have Pittsburgh back in the playoffs in 2007.
