The Steelers are officially finished with the 2007 draft. The final selections:
I'll have more robust notes on the last draft selections later on, plus an analysis of the Steelers' selections as a group. For now, here's the quick and dirty thought on each player.
Lawrence Timmons - Lots and lots of upside, but he needs to get stronger. Special teams contributions add value to this pick.
LaMarr Woodley - Love his rush ability, but question his agility. Very happy to see him with Pittsburgh, though. Plenty of potential.
Matt Spaeth - Might develop into an interesting red zone weapon to complement Heath Miller, but it's hard to imagine why the Steelers thought they needed him.
Daniel Sepulveda - Instant starter and long-term solution at punter. Terrific choice.
Ryan McBean - Needs to get stronger, but he's got development left in him. Might be a contributor in a couple years.
Cameron Stephenson - Nice choice here in the fifth; could develop into a starter as he improves with professional coaching.
William Gay - If he sticks, it would probably be as no more than dime help.
Dallas Baker - He's an older prospect (almost 25 years old) and still needs strength to play in the NFL. Hard to see him making it, but worth a 7th round flier.
