I've been typing fast and furiously all day rehasing the game, and I have more thoughts to share later/tomorrow. I wanted to quickly write a brief post however about what to expect on 'Curtain this offseason, as well as give a shout out to all of you guys for reading and participating on the site this year.
It's been a big year for the site, and you guys deserve much of the credit. Just because the games are over for us in no way means the site will be on hiatus until the draft or training camp.
This isn't a soap-box for me to stand on and spew opinions. Instead, it's more like one giant water cooler for all all to gather around and talk. To 5020, RickVa, ET, datruth4life, santhome, double yoi, steeler lifer, franz, dcfan, Steel, Chicago Steeler, steeltown76, LiveinDC, and countless others I can't remember off the top of my head, thanks for jumping in this year and keeping the discussion lively. To the oldtimers (you know who you are) much love to you guys as well. Special thanks as well to cgolden for voluntarily offering to post the news as it comes out, as well as drumming up the discussion on a daily basis. Without you the community wouldn't be as lively, so to you, I tip my cap appreciatively.
So here's the deal though guys and gals. BehindtheSteelCurtain will be up and running full force throughout the offseason. In many respects, the site is more valuable during the offseason than during the season. If you're not in Pittsburgh, how can you find coverage of free agency, the draft, etc. when your local paper is covering something else? ESPN may devote a few paragraphs to our beloved Steelers, but not enough to satiate the voracious appettites I know many of you have for Steelers football.
So, we'll have another week or so of looking back at the season, then we'll jump head first into NFL draft coverage. It's a big, big draft for our organization. Rest assured we'll look at all the various scenarios the Rooneys will be faced with.
The same goes for free agency - what will happen with Faneca and Starks? Might we actually shell out a few bucks in free agency this year? There are some extensions to be handed out as well, and it'll be interesting to see how much, for example, it costs to keep Big Ben in Gold and Black for the better part of the next decade. All are things we'll be addressing.
Stay tuned and keep bringing the good stuff friends. Together, we'll make 'Curtain the place to go for offseason coverage, and maybe, just maybe, if we stick together, we'll be able to make it to next football season.
Go Steelers!
