Steelers' OL Willie Colon earned top bonus money in the NFL's performance based system.
The $309,534 that Colon pocketed was the maximum figure possible the system allows.
The system, implemented in 2002, awards players whose contributions on the field (read: playing time) far exceeds their financial compensation, so Colon, who started all 16 games, plus a playoff game, clearly was the type of guy the system was designed to reward. The lumpsum nearly doubled what Colon made under his contract. Congratulations Willie.
