BTSC Community Mock Draft Part 1: Pick A Team!

For those of you who were around the site last year, you surely remember the Mock Draft that we conducted ourselves here on Behind The Steel Curtain.

Here's how it goes basically - I list the draft order of the 1st round of the 2009 NFL Draft. You pick a team. Until we see what kind of participation we might be having, I'd prefer if we only picked one team to start. Depending on participation levels, some people might select for two teams. We'll just see.

From there, we'll each write a few paragraphs about our draft selection when your team is 'on the clock.' Like last year, you can email me the posts, I'll format them and post them with a mention of who the credit belongs to for the selection. Last year was a success and a lot of fun. All in all, I thought we did a good job with our picks - outside of Matt Ryan that is. I think I'm partly responsible for setting the narrative about him last year around this time and consequently, he fell pretty damn far. Anyway, regardless of whether we're on or off the mark with our picks, it's a fun way to divvy up some of the writing here, while learning about some of the other teams in the league and some of the soon-to-be newcomers in the National Football League.

Without further ado:

UPDATE:

Alll teams have been selected. I will send out instructions no later than this weekend about when we'll start. It won't be before Tuesday of next week, but that doesn't mean we can't all start learning a little something extra about the teams we've selected. It helps put into context the selections having read a bit about their past season and current rosters. It might be wise for us to let free agency play out a bit before we get started too of course, but usually there's a big flurry at the beginning so let's see what the weekend brings us in that regard.

Thanks to all for participating, I'll be putting up a post that details who's got who and what's next.

RULES:

There is just one! Please only participate if you think you're going to be able to devote the (small amount) time to make a thoughtful selection and write up. This won't require hours of research or writing or anything like that, but it's only fun when everybody lives up to their end of the bargain and tries to individually make the mock draft a collective success by doing a decent job. It also means having at least daily access to email so that you can be aware of when your team is 'on the clock.' I will send out an email reminder when that's the case, and make it abundantly clear on the site. But if your a reader who can only check in a couple times a week, it'd be appreciated if you perhaps held out and waited at least to see if the group was looking for people to slide in and fill out the participating roster.

Actually I lied, there are two rules. #2 = No Trades in our draft. Gets too complicated. Sorry.

NOTE!

PLEASE CHECK TO SEE WHO'S BEEN SELECTED BEFORE COMMENTING!

I will update once or twice to try to help keep confusion to a minimum, but please help a brother out and check before picking!. Thank you.

Ready, set, pick a team!
