BTSC 2009 Community Mock Draft - Pick #9 by the Green Bay Packers: Everette Brown, DE/OLB, Florida State

Didn't get a pick from the Green Bay Packers rep, so I'm going to just make a not very well thought out pick for them in the interest of keeping things moving. Next up? The San Francisco 49ers, who will also be represented by myself as a substitute. Thanks to those who have contacted me to let me know they're not able to participate as they thought they might. Let's see if we can get this thing going at a decent clip the next week and a half. -Blitz-

*************

With the 9th pick of the BTSC Community Mock Draft, the Green Bay Packers select Everette Brown, a defensive pass rush specialist out of Florida State, a school that's been known to produce an explosive player or two on defense. Brown had an impressive 13.5 sacks last year for the Seminoles, and would possibly bring a much needed boost to the Green Bay pass rush.

Green Bay had just 27 sacks last year. Only the Broncos, Bills, Texans, Redskins, Bengals, Browns and Chiefs had fewer. That's not good company to keep. And for a Packers defense that's committed to the 3-4, Brown could be a huge upgrade not just sacking the quarterback, but also dropping back to play some in defense. He'll have to do some learning in the early years of his career what's required of him as an OLB in the NFL - much like LaMarr Woodley is having to do.
