Ben Roethlisberger Throws 3 Touchdowns In Return, Steelers Rout Browns 28-10

Not a bad 2010 debut for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger! Big Ben throws for 257 yards and 3 TDs as the Steelers easily defeat the Cleveland Browns 28-10 in front of a Heinz Field crowd that greeted Roethlisberger warmly. A comprehensive recap coming from me, but for now, discuss the game here. My initial quick-hit thoughts to get the conversation going:

  • Nice game plan by Bruce Arians today - the Steelers threw the ball 27 times and rushed the ball 35 times.
  • Roethlisberger wasn't perfect, but boy did he look sharp for his first game back. He threw the ball with touch when necessary, slinged it down the field with authority at others, broke contain in the pocket when appropriate - just a very nice performance from him. This Steelers team showed flashes of how good they can be now that Roethlisberger is back in the fold.
  • Not a bad debut for Browns' rookie QB Colt McCoy. The vast majority of his passing yardage came in the 4th quarter with the Browns clearly in catch-up mode, but even before the late flurry, he looked pretty impressive from the pocket. Not a bad showing for the young'n.
  • Another impressive performance from the front-seven of the Steelers. THe Browns couldn't get their running game going for the most part, while Lawrence Timmons, James Harrison and LaMarr Woodley all made big plays in the victory.

More soon. Go Steelers!
