A relatively short, quick-hitting six-pack here on this fine, Wednesday. Back soon with some original content of my own very soon.
IX - One of the more intriguing stories of Super Bowl XLV is the match up of the two teams' defensive coordinators. Dick LeBeau vs. Dom Capers. Both men are incredibly well respected by their players and around the league, both run a similarly aggressive and attacking defense out of the 3-4, and both learned and worked together while with the Steelers in the early '90s. Capers recently talked about the Packers defense, the match up with the Steelers, and his relatioship with LeBeau. You can read the full transcription here.
X - Pete Wilmoth of SB Nation Pittsburgh weighs in with his first Super Bowl feature, a look at how the game will in large part be determined by which quarterback handles pressure in the pocket more adeptly.
XIII - Jim Wexell recently updated Maurkice Pouncey's ankle situation. From his Twitter account:
Maurkice Pouncey on crutches in a cast. He said he doesn't know when he's going to get it off. Didn't want to talk about it. Will update.
Doesn't sound too promising to me, but we'll just have to wait for Wexell and other's updates. In the meantime, don't be surprised to see the Steelers find a backup center to add to the roster.
XIV - Tim Gleason just posted his most recent article on At The 50 Yard Line. This offering is about Big Ben's performance against the Jets.
XL -It's the lead up to the Super Bowl, so you can count on a gazillion puff pieces being published in the next 10 days leading up to the game. Here's one about Antonio Brown, and how catching passes runs in the family.
XLIII - The city of Dallas Forth Worth is gearing up for the arrival of the Steelers Prices are still out of control for not only tickets to big game, but for things like parking as well. If you are thinking about going but are turned off by the prices, perhaps head down there and see what you can pull off at the last minute? Looks like there's going to be a whole lot of people who hold out too long to sell thinking they're going to make a killing. We'll see. I sure hope some of y'all make it down there though. I'll be there as of next Tuesday, and I'd like to organize some sort of BTSC get together for one day that week or weekend. More on that soon.
