Hey guys, hope your weeks have all been productive and safe. Most importantly, hope that they went by quickly as we all anxiously await the arrival of Sunday afternoon when the Pittsburgh Steelers face the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV.
Just a quick reminder that if you're in the DFW area and would like something fun to do on Saturday afternoon, come on by Malarky's Tavern. From the sound of it, Malarky's is the Steelers Bar of the city, if not the entire state. So regardless of how many actual BTSC readers show up, it sounds like there will be a sea of Steeler fans there hanging out and merrily getting ready for Sunday's game.
I will be there beginning at 12:00 at the latest, and will be hanging around for at least three or four hours. Ken Laird and Deshea Townsend will be broadcasting their new show from there beginning at noon, and though my attention will largely be on meeting you all, I've been promised a short spot on their show at some point.
Also, as it so happens, maryrose, BTSC's beloved historian, will be doing a book signing beginning at 2 pm. In case you weren't aware, 'rose (Tim Gleason), authored the acclaimed book From Black To Gold: The Pittsburgh Steelers. It was published this past summer to rave reviews from not only everyday fans like you and me, but also by Art Rooney Jr., who liked the book so much he wrote a foreword for it, and by several former legendary players like Rocky Bleier and Tunch Ilkin. Even if you won't be able to attend the event, I encourage you to check out the book and consider purchasing one for either yourself or a rabid fan.
Anyway, should be a grand afternoon of conversation, food and drink, so come on out and join us if you're in the area and looking for something to do. Of course, the weather is still an issue, but hopefully things will warm up a bit tomorrow and make transportation a bit easier.
