BTSC 2011 Community Mock Draft Pick No. 8 -- Tennessee Titans Select Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn

Many thanks to seton hall and steelers for the prompt pick at No. 8. I don't believe anybody (besides me of course) has written as much on BTSC so far this offseason. Very appreciative of all his hard work. Next up: the Dallas Cowboys, appropriately represented by steelerintexas. - Michael B. -

When I signed up to pick for the Titans at No. 8 in this mock, I figured that Nick Fairley would be long gone. Seeing him still here is incredibile. Even though the Titans need a QB, there are none worth considering taking at this point, especially with Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert off the board. Furthermore, since Albert Haynesworth departed for the Redskins, the Titans have not been able to find his replacement. Fairley is the 2nd best DT in this draft (just barely behind Dareus) and is a pretty great pick here. He was an absolute monster this year at Auburn. He was as important to Auburn winning it all as Cam Newton. He dominated every game and came to play in each game. People say he has some character concerns but I don't see it. He works hard on every play and doesn't take snaps off. His biggest concern besides being a one year wonder is that he is only 6'3" 290 pounds. However, with an NFL strength and conditioning program he could easily put on 10 pounds and become a monster. If Fairley is available at the 8th overall pick, I don't think there is any chance that the Titans pass on him. If Blaine Gabbert is available they could take him but I wouldn't even touch him if Fairley is on the board.
