This took almost two weeks to put together. It does not include compensatory picks. In about a week I will have another draft with all the compensatory picks.
Round 1
1. Carolina (2-14) Team Needs: QB, 2DT, WR1, RG, RDE, TE, CB – Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama: The hot pick right now for the Panthers is Cam Newton. However, I believe that the Panthers will give Clausen one more year since next year’s QB class will be very good and very deep. If they are not going to pick a QB, I believe the pick comes down to Fairley or Dareus. I have Dareus as 1a on my big board for DT’s and Fairley as 1b so I gave the Panthers Dareus. Other options are Fairley, Newton, Green, and Peterson.
2. Denver (4-12) Team Needs: DT, CB, SS, RT, TE, DE, RB – Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn: I think that the Broncos will take one of the two DT’s available here. I have Dareus going 1st so that leaves Fairley. Fairley is a beast but has some size concerns at only 290 pounds. However, with an NFL strength and conditioning program, he will have no trouble putting on 10 pounds. He will help the Broncos’ front seven tremendously. I think Patrick Peterson could be the pick here or even Da’Quan Bowers but I believe that Fairley is the BPA and fills their biggest need.
3. Buffalo (4-12) Team Needs: QB, LT, DE, Rush LB, RT, WR, TE, ILB, CB3 – Cam Newton, QB, Auburn: Newton has a great arm strength, he is extremely athletic, and is a proven winner but his accuracy and attitude are his biggest concerns. I think he is not worthy of a top 5 pick but QB’s tend to be over-drafted. He is the ultimate boom or bust prospect but I think Chan Gailey will get the best out of him. Other options are Da’Quan Bowers and Von Miller.
4. Cincinnati (4-12) Team Needs: DE, RB, WR, ILB, QB, LG, SS, K, KR – Da’Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson: If Cam Newton is available here, I think he will be the pick. However, with Newton off the board there is really no question. Bowers fills their biggest need and is the BPA. I don’t think the Bengals will take A.J. Green because they have a very good and deep WR core. Bowers was a sack machine this year but like Fairley, he is a bit of a one year wonder. If the Bengals manage to keep Bowers working hard, he will be a great NFL player.
5. Arizona (5-11) Team Needs: QB, LT, 2 Rush LB, LG, RT, CB, FS – Von Miller, OLB, Texas A&M: I could see the Cardinals go one of two ways here. They could take Von Miller or Blaine Gabbert. I don’t think Gabbert is very good. Therefore, I believe that Miller will be the pick. Miller is an athletic machine that will be the next Demarcus Ware. He ran a 4.4 at the combine. His biggest question is pass coverage but he can be taught that. Other Option is Blaine Gabbert.
6. Cleveland (5-11) Team Needs: WR, RT, DE, DT, weakside LB, CB, RG, SS, K- A.J. Green, WR, Georgia: If Fairley or Dareus is available here I believe they will be the pick. However, with both of them gone, the Browns get their number 1 receiver that they have not had in forever. Green is an elite prospect that could go #1 or #4 overall. He is great value and will become a great player. The Browns get Colt McCoy the elite weapon he did not have.
7. San Francisco (6-10) Team Needs: QB, DE, Rush LB, CB, FS, WR, OT- Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU: The Niners have a ton of options here. If Newton is available they could take him. They could take Gabbert. But ultimately I believe they will target defense here. I think it comes down to Cameron Jordan and Patrick Peterson (and Von Miller if he is available). I think Peterson, while he doesn’t fill their biggest need, is incredible value here and will help the defense just as much as reaching a little for Cameron Jordan. Peterson is the next Darrell Revis minus the attitude.
8. Tennessee (6-10) Team Needs: QB, LG, ILB, C, DE, Weak LB, SS, DT- Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri: Blaine Gabbert is the only player available that makes any sense here. I think if this draft worked out this way, the Titans would trade down a few spots. However, I don’t mock trades so I gave them Gabbert. Gabbert could become a good QB but I don’t think he will ever be great.
9. Dallas (6-10) Team Needs: CB, RT, FS, RE, LG, SS, DL, WR- Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska: This pick comes down to Amukamara or Tyron Smith. I think Dallas will continue to neglect their OL and just take the BPA in Amukamara. Jerry Jones never drafts OL in the 1st round and this won’t be the year. Amukamara has great potential to become a star in this league and will help upgrade that terrible Cowboys secondary.
10. Washington (6-10) Team Needs: QB, WR, RT, Rush LB, ILB, NT, CB, RE, FS, RG, C, FB, K, P- Julio Jones, WR, Alabama: The Redskins biggest needs are QB, WR, RT, and NT. I don’t think any position here is worth the pick except WR. Jones is an incredible athlete and outperformed A.J. Green with a broken foot. He will give Rex Grossman (or whoever their QB is) an elite weapon. I think Tyron Smith could be the pick here but he does not present the value that Jones does.
11. Houston (6-10) Team Needs: NT, 2 Rush LB, FS, SS, CB, WR, P, DL- Robert Quinn, OLB, UNC: Quinn would have been a top 5 pick had he not been suspended for the year. He is a great athlete and will help Houston transition to a 3-4. Phil Taylor could be the pick but I think it is a bit of a reach and the NT class is about 6 deep so the Texans can find a NT in the 2nd or 3rd round.
12. Minnesota (6-10) Team Needs: QB, 2 OLB, 2S, CB, RG, WR, LE, K, C, DT, TE- Akeem Ayers, OLB, UCLA: The Vikings would definitely trade this pick if the draft worked out this way. There is no QB or OLB worth the pick here but a ton of teams would be looking to trade up for Cameron Jordan and Tyron Smith. However, since I don’t mock trades, I gave the Vikings the best 4-3 OLB in the draft.
13. Detroit (6-10) Team Needs: 2OLB, CB, LT, C, SS, RB- Tyron Smith, OT, USC: Detroit needs an OLB and a CB more than a LT but since Smith is the BPA I gave him to the Lions. There is no denying that the Lions could use an upgrade on the offensive line just by looking at the injuries their QB has suffered. If they ever want to see Stafford succeed, adding an elite tackle will help. Smith will become the left tackle and Backus can play RT. That gives them 2 very good tackles to protect their 60 million dollar investment.
14. St. Louis (7-9) Team Needs: WR, RG, DT, Weak LB, SS, TE, RB, CB, DE- Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois: The Rams would probably try to trade down here. However, Liuget is a very good DT prospect that will help shore up their front 4. He has good size and quickness but will need to put on a little more weight to dominate in this league. He works hard and is very smart so it is a safe pick.
15. Miami (7-9) Team Needs: QB, RB, FS, TE, LG, WR, CB3, Rush LB, OL- Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama: This pick is the easiest pick for me to mock. The Dolphins will take Ingram no matter what IMO. Unless one of the two QBs drop to 15 Ingram is the BPA. He has great vision and a good set of moves and with a little added speed he could become great.
16. Jacksonville (8-8) Team Needs: DE, FS, CB, WR, Weak LB, QB, OL- Cameron Jordan, DE, California: This pick will either be Jordan or Watt. I think Jordan is more of a pass rusher than Watt and that is what the Jags need. Jordan has a great set of moves to get by tackles and will help that poor pass-rush tremendously.
17. New England - from Oakland (8-8) Team Needs: G, OT, Rush LB, DE, WR, RB- Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin: The Patriots will take BPA every pick. Carimi is the 2nd best tackle in this draft and fills a big need. He has great versatility and will fit in with the hard working mantra of the Patriots.
18. San Diego (9-7) Team Needs: Rush LB, DE, RT, ILB, WR, FS, CB3, ST- Aldon Smith, OLB, Missouri: The Chargers need to work on their pass rush. It is not good at all. Smith can play down as a DE or step out as an OLB. He has great versatility and will help that pass rush tremendously.
19. New York Giants (10-6) Team Needs: LT, RB, C, Strong LB, LG, WR, FS, P- Nate Solder, OT, Colorado: I really don’t know where the Giants will go with this pick. They could take Solder, Martez Wilson, or Mike Pouncey. I think Solder is the BPA so I gave him to the GMEN. He will help shore up that OL and give them a boost to the running game and passing game.
20. Tampa Bay (10-6) Team Needs: 2DE, ILB, RT, LG, Strong LB, RB, C, CB- J.J. Watt, DE, Wisconsin: If J.J. Watt is available here, I think the Bucs war room will pee their pants. Watt has all the tools to become great. He is athletic, smart, big, and hard working. Combining with th`eir two rookie DT’s, the Bucs now have three young DL that will help their entire defense for years to come.
21. Kansas City* (10-6) Team Needs: Rush LB, WR, NT, QB, LT, RT, C, RB, ILB- Phil Taylor, NT, Baylor: The Chiefs have been getting by without a great NT but it is time they get one. Taylor has a rare combination of size and speed and will be a Casey Hampton like NT in the NFL. The Chiefs get a great player to anchor their defense for the next decade.
22. Indianapolis* (10-6) Team Needs: LT, RT, DT, RG, WR, SS, RB, QB, P- Anthony Costanzo, OT, Boston College: Costanzo was tailor made for the Colts blocking scheme. I think even if Carimi or Solder was here, they Colts would still take Costanzo. He will help protect the 100 million dollar investment and prevent him from running for his life.
23. Philadelphia* (10-6) Team Needs: RT, RG, 2CB, 2OLB, SS, DE- Derek Sherrod, OT, Mississippi State: The Eagles need help at a lot of key places. They have no right side of the line, no corners, and no OLB’s. I think Sherrod fills their biggest need at RT. Sherrod has good size, great speed for an OT, but needs to use his hands better.
24. New Orleans* (11-5) Team Needs: DT, ILB, DE, RT, RB, strong LB, SS- Muhammed Wilkerson, DE/DT, Temple: If the draft worked out this way I think the Saints would trade down. However, Wilkerson is a very good prospect and will excel in the Saints system. He could play DE or DT for them but I think he will be a DT in the Saints system. He will be able to get to the passer and just out quick guards and centers. He is good value and a very safe pick.
25. Seattle* (7-9) Team Needs: CB, SS, RT, LE, WR1, RG, QB, K- Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado: Smith has top 15 talent but questions about his character drop him to 25. However, at 25 he is too good of a value and talent to pass up on. The Seahawks secondary got destroyed all season long and this is the reason they were 7-9.
26. Baltimore* (12-4) Team Needs: WR, DE, CB, ILB, RT, RG- Jonathan Baldwin, WR, Pittsburgh: The Ravens "elite" WR corps is not actually elite. They lack any vertical playmaker’s. Baldwin will give Joe Unibrow another weapon and will give the Ravens the ability to spread the field. He has great size and speed and has an incredible vertical. It would pain me to see a player that went to a winning city in college go to a losing city in the NFL but I have to be non-biased when picking.
27. Atlanta* (13-3) Team Needs: 2WR, LT, 2G, SS, strong LB, CB3, TE, DE- Torrey Smith, WR, Maryland: The Falcons lack play-makers besides Roddy White. Smith gives them a vertical threat to combine with White and their running game. He will make everybody on the team better and could be the next Mike Wallace.
28. New England* (14-2) Team Needs: G, Rush LB, DE, WR, RB- Ryan Kerrigan, DE/OLB, Purdue: With their 2nd pick in the 1st round, the Patriots get an elite pass rusher to help their defense. Kerrigan has great size and quickness for a 3-4 OLB and will give the Patriots a true pass rusher off the edge.
29. Chicago* (11-5) Team Needs: LT, LG, DT, C, WR1, Strong LB, RB, DE, P- Mike Pouncey, OG, Florida: The Bears OL is so bad. The best OL available will be the pick here. Pouncey is a great talent that won’t be as good as his brother but can become a very good Guard in the NFL.
30. New York Jets* (11-5) Team Needs: rush LB, DE, CB, ILB, WR, K- Cameron Heyward, DE, Ohio State: The Jets get a pretty good player in Cameron Heyward. If Heyward plays hard, he will become a superstar. If he plays like he did most of the season, he will be average. High risk, high reward pick for the Jets.
31. Pittsburgh* (12-4) Team Needs: RG, CB, OT, NT, DE, FS, P- Brandon Harris, CB, Miami: Harris might never be a #1 corner because of his lack of size but he will be a very good CB2 and with Ike Taylor and Harris, the Steelers will have one of the best CB tandems in the league.
32. Green Bay* (10-6) Team Needs: Rush LB, LG, DE, RB, OT, WR, K- Justin Houston, OLB, Georgia: The Packers biggest "weakness" is that they don’t have a good OLB opposite of Clay Matthews. Houston has great potential and with good coaching can become very good.
Round 2
33. New England - from Carolina (2-14) Team Needs: G, DE, WR, RB- Benjamin Ijalana, OG/OT, Villanova – Ijalana will be a good guard for the Patriots. He has the possibility of becoming a RT if need be, but I think he is better fit as a guard. Either way, he is good value at a position of need.
34. Buffalo (4-12) Team Needs: LT, DE, Rush LB, RT, WR, TE, ILB, CB3 – Brooks Reed, OLB, Arizona – Buffalo took Newton in the 1st round hoping that an elite pass rusher would make it here and one did. Reed could go in the 1st round so being available her, he is the BPA.
35. Cincinnati (4-12) Team Needs: RB, WR, ILB, QB, LG, SS, K, KR – Mikel Leshoure, RB, Illinois- I almost gave the Bengals Jake Locker but I think Leshoure is really good value at a position of need. Leshoure has the potential to be better than Ingram so it is a good pick here.
36. Denver (4-12) Team Needs: CB, S, RT, TE, DE, RB – Rahim Moore, FS, UCLA – Denver’s secondary needs all kind of help. Moore is the BPA and fills a huge need. He is a very good playmaker and has the potential to be a very good safety. He won’t be a Troy or an Ed Reed but he can become as good as Eric Berry was this year.
37. Cleveland (5-11) Team Needs: RT, DE, DT, weakside LB, CB, RG, SS, K- Adrian Clayborn, DE, Iowa – Cleveland switched to a 4-3 so they need to get a new front 7. Clayborn is a top 25 talent but he fell due to need for the teams picking recently. He is great value here and could become a star.
38. Arizona (5-11) Team Needs: QB, LT, Rush LB, LG, RT, CB, FS – Jason Pinkston, OT, Pittsburgh – Arizona needs to address their tackle position. Pinkston can play either tackle spot so he is a safe pick.
39. Tennessee (6-10) Team Needs: LG, ILB, C, DE, Weak LB, SS, DT- Rodney Hudson, OG, Florida State – Hudson needs to gain 10 pounds but if he can do that he will be great. He has good footwork, is very smart, is athletic, and uses his hands well. He is good value here and fills a big need.
40. Dallas (6-10) Team Needs: RT, FS, RE, LG, SS, DL, WR- Quinton Carter, FS, Oklahoma – The Cowboys took Amukamara in round 1 but they still need to upgrade at both safety spots. Carter is a great athlete that loves to hit and will be an upgrade at FS.
41. Washington (6-10) Team Needs: QB, RT, Rush LB, ILB, NT, CB, RE, FS, RG, C, FB, K, P- Jake Locker, QB, Washington – Washington got Julio Jones in round 1 and now they get a QB to throw to him in the future. Drafting Locker gives the Redskins options. They can cut McNabb to save money or they can keep him to mentor Locker. I don’t think Locker can start right away but with proper coaching on his throwing motion he can become very good.
42. Houston (6-10) Team Needs: NT, Rush LB, FS, SS, CB, WR, P, DL- Martez Wilson, OLB/ILB, Illinois: Wilson is an extremely versatile LB. He can play 3-4 OLB or ILB. The Texans will use him as an OLB. He can rush the passer extremely well and he is very good in pass coverage.
43. Minnesota (6-10) Team Needs: QB, OLB, 2S, CB, RG, WR, LE, K, C, DT, TE- Christian Ponder, QB, Florida State – The Vikings have made it clear that they want a QB early in the draft and they get probably the safest QB to take in round 2. Ponder has a ton of potential and a high floor. With some good coaching he will be a steal here in round 2.
44. Detroit (6-10) Team Needs: 2OLB, CB, C, SS, RB- Sam Acho, OLB, Texas – Detroit’s OLB corps needs a complete over-haul. They start that over-haul with pass rushing specialist Sam Acho who will need to convert from DE. He has tons of potential and can become a star if coached properly.
45. San Francisco (6-10) Team Needs: QB, DE, Rush LB, FS, WR, OT- Christian Ballard, DE, Iowa – Ballard fills a big need with great value. With Ponder off the board just two picks before, I don’t see any QB worth the pick.
46. Denver - from Miami (7-9) ) Team Needs: CB, RT, TE, DE, RB – Aaron Williams, CB, Texas: Denver needs to go defense with their first 3 picks. After getting Fairley and Moore with their 1st two picks, they get a shutdown corner with their 3rd pick.
47. St. Louis (7-9) Team Needs: WR, RG, Weak LB, SS, TE, RB, CB, DE- Leonard Hankerson, WR, Miami: The Rams couldn’t get Jones in round 1, but Hankerson is the next best fit for what they need. He is big, fast, and has great hands. With work on his route-running he can become a star.
48. Oakland (8-8) - Team Needs: CB, RT, LG, C, Strong LB, WR1, TE – Curtis Brown, CB, Texas: The Raiders need to find a new #1 corner and Brown has the ability to be a #1 corner. He can blanket a receiver for the entire game and could be a stud.
49. Jacksonville (8-8) Team Needs: FS, CB, WR, Weak LB, QB, OL- Deunta Williams, FS, UNC: This is a BPA pick that happens to fill a major need. With Christian Ponder off the board, addressing the defensive secondary is the biggest need. Williams is a great player that will be a star. He is not that much worse than Rahim Moore.
50. San Diego (9-7) Team Needs: DE, RT, ILB, WR, FS, CB3, ST- Allen Bailey, DE, Miami: Another BPA pick while filling a huge need. Bailey has incredible athleticism and if he is taught how to use it he will be a huge steal.
51. Tampa Bay (10-6) Team Needs: DE, ILB, RT, LG, Strong LB, RB, C, CB- Greg Jones, ILB, Michigan State: The Bucs could take another DE here but there are none worth the pick. Jones gives them a great ILB with great value. He had a tremendous career at Michigan State and he is a stand-out guy.
52. New York Giants (10-6) Team Needs: RB, C, Strong LB, LG, WR, FS, P- Stefen Wisniewski, C, Penn State: Wisniewski is the BPA here and he is an incredible value here. He fills what I believe to be the GMEN’s biggest hole at the C spot.
53. Indianapolis* (10-6) Team Needs: RT, DT, RG, WR, SS, RB, QB, P- Stephen Paea, DT, Oregon State: Paea has incredible strength to make up for his lack of weight. I think he can play some 1-tech but he will excel in the 3-tech. He has a great work ethic and will fit right into the Colts locker room.
54. Philadelphia* (10-6) Team Needs: RG, 2CB, 2OLB, SS, DE- Brandon Burton, CB, Utah: This is a pick that some might be surprised by. I think Burton should be considered a late first to early 2nd round pick and I think he is a steal here. He blanketed receivers for his entire career and is a great tackler as well.
55. Kansas City* (10-6) Team Needs: Rush LB, WR, QB, LT, RT, C, RB, ILB- Titus Young, WR, Boise State: The Chiefs need to spend at least one pick in this draft finding more play-makers at the WR spot. Young has great speed and athleticism to go along with great hands but he needs to improve his route running ability to be a star.
56. New Orleans* (11-5) Team Needs: ILB, DE, RT, RB, strong LB, SS- Quan Sturdivant, ILB, UNC: Sturdivant is a good value here at a big need. He is a playmaker and a very athletic one at that. He can get after the QB and cover RB’s and TE’s so he will help the Saints at ILB.
57. Seattle* (7-9) Team Needs: SS, RT, LE, WR1, RG, QB, K- Marcus Gilbert, OT, Florida: Gilbert is a decent value here but I really think he will be a star. He played both tackle spots in college and dominated them both. He has great strength and footwork and is a hard working kid.
58. Baltimore* (12-4) Team Needs: DE, CB, ILB, RT, RG- Nate Irving, ILB, N.C. State: Irving is built in the mold of Ray Lewis. He is big and fast and hits really hard. Ray Ray can groom him until he retires and then Irving can replace him.
59. Atlanta* (13-3) ) Team Needs: WR, LT, 2G, SS, strong LB, CB3, TE, DE- Joseph Barksdale, OT, LSU: Barksdale can play either tackle spot and is decent value here. He is very big and strong but needs coaching for his footwork.
60. New England* (14-2) Team Needs: DE, WR, RB- Jerrell Jernigan, WR, Troy: Jernigan will give the Patriots another good small receiver, but unlike their other small receivers, he has great speed to stretch the field.
61. San Diego - from New York Jets* (11-5) Team Needs: RT, ILB, WR, FS, CB3, ST- Casey Matthews, ILB, Oregon: Matthews comes from a good blood-line but that is not why I put him here. I put him here because he is a great playmaker and a hard worker. He will succeed in the NFL, but he will always be un-fairly compared to his brother.
62. Chicago* (11-5) Team Needs: LT, DT, C, WR1, Strong LB, RB, DE, P- Drake Nevis, DT, LSU: Nevis is very strong and is good value here. He fits into the Bears system and is a hard working kid. He comes from a school that already teaches DT well so he is very NFL ready.
63. Pittsburgh* (12-4) Team Needs: RG, OT, NT, DE, FS, P- Marcus Cannon, OG/RT, TCU: Cannon probably won’t be a RT but that is not that big of a deal. He is the best guard available and fills the Steelers biggest need. He has great footwork and size and is a great value here.
64. Green Bay* (10-6) Team Needs: LG, DE, RB, OT, WR, K- Danny Watkins, OG, Baylor: The Packers are built to win now so it does not matter that Watkins is 26 years old. He is ready to start for the Packers and that is all that matters.
Round 3
65. Carolina (2-14) Team Needs: QB, DT, WR1, RG, RDE, TE, CB – Marvin Austin, DT, UNC: Austin and Dareus will give the Panthers one of the best interior DL’s in the league.
66. Cincinnati (4-12) Team Needs: WR, ILB, QB, LG, SS, K, KR – Colin Kaepernick, QB, Nevada: If and when Palmer is traded, the Bengals will need to find his replacement. Kaepernick has all the intangibles and with proper coaching he will become very good.
67. Denver (4-12) Team Needs: RT, TE, DE, RB – Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame: Incredible value meets big need. Rudolph is by far the BPA and fills one of Denver’s biggest needs. No brainer pick.
68. Buffalo (4-12) Team Needs: LT, DE, RT, WR, TE, ILB, CB3 – Chris Hairston, OT, Clemson: Hairston has the versatility to play LT or RT which are both needs for the Bills.
69. Arizona (5-11) Team Needs: QB, Rush LB, LG, RT, CB, FS – John Moffit, OG, Wisconsin: Moffit is a hard-working, blue-collar player that will improve the Cardinals interior OL.
70. Cleveland (5-11) Team Needs: RT, DT, weakside LB, CB, RG, SS, K- Jurrell Casey, DT, USC: switching to a 4-3 without the proper pieces, the Browns must find almost their entire front 7 in this draft. Casey is great value at a big positional need.
71. Dallas (6-10) Team Needs: RT, RE, LG, SS, DL, WR- Jarvis Jenkins, DE, Clemson: Jenkins has a great motor and is under-rated do to Bowers presence this year. Jenkins is a 2nd round talent so this is great value.
72. New Orleans - from Washington (6-10) Team Needs: DE, RT, RB, strong LB, SS- Pernell McPhee, DE, Mississippi State: The Saints front four is missing ½ of it so finding two starters is crucial. Getting Wilkerson in round 1 and McPhee in round 3 would solidify the Saints front 4 and make it one of the best in the league.
73. Houston (6-10) Team Needs: NT, FS, SS, WR, P, DL- Jerrell Powe, NT, Ole Miss: The Texans need to find a NT to anchor their new 3-4 and Powe is just the player to do that.
74. New England - from Minnesota (6-10) Team Needs: DE, RB- Jordan Todman, RB, Connecticut: Great value here. Todman has the skill set to be a feature back in an offense like the Patriots. He has great vision, hands, and good lateral quickness which will fit right in with lady Brady.
75. Detroit (6-10) Team Needs: OLB, CB, C, SS, RB- Ras I Dowling, CB, Virginia: No OLB’s are worth this pick so the Lions address their next biggest need in CB. Dowling is a 1st round talent but due to injury concerns his stock is somewhere from the 2nd to 3rd round.
76. San Francisco (6-10) Team Needs: QB, Rush LB, FS, WR, OT- Ryan Mallet, QB, Arkansas: This is a low risk pick here in the middle of the 3rd round. If Mallet gets his head straight, he can be a star. If not, you just release him in 2 years.
77. Tennessee (6-10) Team Needs: ILB, C, DE, Weak LB, SS, DT- Kelvin Sheppard, ILB, LSU: Sheppard has a knack for the football and will fit into the Titans defensive scheme.
78. St. Louis (7-9) Team Needs: RG, Weak LB, SS, TE, RB, CB, DE- Mason Foster, OLB, Washington: This is a great value here. Foster is a 2nd round talent but he fell due to needs of the teams above. However, the Rams are in desperate need of a weak-side LB and Foster can be just that.
79. Miami (7-9) Team Needs: QB, FS, TE, LG, WR, CB3, Rush LB, OL- Robert Sands, S, WVU: There are no QB’s worth the pick and Sands is by far the BPA. He has great vision and speed and will be a star in this league someday.
80. Jacksonville (8-8) Team Needs: CB, WR, Weak LB, QB, OL- Kendric Burney, CB, UNC: Burney has decent speed but his best strength is his ability to shadow a receiver for 60 minutes. He is a good tackler and is the BPA.
81. Oakland (8-8) Team Needs: RT, LG, C, Strong LB, WR1, TE – Jake Kirkpatrick, C, Nevada: Kirkpatrick is an under-rated C that has all the physical tools to be a star. He has great footwork to go along with his physical presence.
82. San Diego (9-7) Team Needs: RT, WR, FS, CB3, ST- Tandon Doss, WR, Indiana: Doss is a do it all player. He can play RB, WR, or KR/PR. He will give Phillip Rivers a multi-faceted weapon to add to their already dynamic offense.
83. New York Giants (10-6) Team Needs: RB, Strong LB, LG, WR, FS, P- Bruce Carter, OLB, UNC: Carter is the BPA and fills a huge need for the Giants.
84. Tampa Bay (10-6) Team Needs: DE, RT, LG, Strong LB, RB, C, CB- Lawrence Guy, DE/DT, Arizona State: Guy has great size and speed and can play almost any position on the DL except for 3-4 NT. The Bucs play a 4-3 and Guy will be a stud of a DE.
85. Philadelphia* (10-6) Team Needs: RG, CB, 2OLB, SS, DE- Lawrence Wilson, OLB, Connecticut: Wilson has great vision and is always around the ball. He fits into the Eagles scheme and will likely start right away.
86. Kansas City* (10-6) Team Needs: Rush LB, QB, LT, RT, C, RB, ILB- Dontay Moch, OLB, Nevada: Moch is an athletic freak that will be able to rush off the edge with the best of them. If he can work on pass coverage he can become a star.
87. Indianapolis* (10-6) Team Needs: RT, RG, WR, SS, RB, QB, P- Orlando Franklin, OG, Miami: Franklin is good value for the Colts, who need to upgrade their OL if they want to keep Peyton playing for a couple more years.
88. New Orleans* (11-5) Team Needs: RT, RB, strong LB, SS- James Brewer, OT, Indiana: Brewer is good value and fills a big need. The Saints need to protect Brees as good as they possibly can and Brewer can be a very good RT.
89. San Diego - from Seattle* (7-9) Team Needs: RT, FS, CB3, ST- Rashad Carmichael, CB/ST, Virginia Tech: Carmichael, at the very worst, is a great special teamer and nickel corner. At best, he is a #1 corner and great special teamer.
90. Baltimore* (12-4) Team Needs: DE, CB, RT, RG- Johnny Patrick, CB, Louisville: Patrick is a good coverage corner that excels in man coverage. He has good speed and size and is a willing tackler.
91. Atlanta* (13-3) Team Needs: WR, 2G, SS, strong LB, CB3, TE, DE- Clint Boling, OG, Georgia: The Falcons could use upgrades at both guard spots. Boling has great size and quickness but needs to improve his footwork.
92. New England* (14-2) Team Needs: DE- Cedric Thorton, DE, Southern Arkansas: The only need the Patriots haven’t addressed is DE. Thorton is a good value and an extremely under-rated prospect.
93. Chicago* (11-5) Team Needs: LT, C, WR1, Strong LB, RB, DE, P- Tim Barnes, C, Missouri: Barnes is the best OL available so I believe he would be the pick. He has good footwork and strength but needs to use his hands better.
94. New York Jets* (11-5) Team Needs: rush LB, CB, ILB, WR, K- Jabaal Sheard, OLB, Pittsburgh: Sheard is a very good pass rusher but he will have to make the transition from DE to OLB.
95. Pittsburgh* (12-4) Team Needs: OT, NT, DE, FS, P- Kendrick Ellis, NT, Hampton: NT is not a need right now, but the Steelers don’t draft for now. In a couple years, Casey Hampton will retire and Ellis will be his replacement.
96. Green Bay* (10-6) Team Needs: DE, RB, OT, WR, K- Darius Morris, OT, Temple: The Packers struggled to run the ball because of bad OL not bad RB’s. Morris is probably not a LT but he will definitely be able to play RT.
Round 4
97. Carolina (2-14) Team Needs: QB, WR1, RG, RDE, TE, CB – Lee Ziemba, OG, Auburn: Ziemba can compete for the starting RG spot.
98. Seattle - from New England via Denver (4-12) Team Needs: SS, LE, WR1, RG, QB, K- Greg Romeus, DE, Pittsburgh: Romeus is a very talented player that under-achieved this year due to injuries. Was once considered a top 10 pick.
99. Buffalo (4-12) Team Needs: DE, RT, WR, TE, ILB, CB3 – Derek Newton, RT, Arkansas State: A project player but could become a very good RT. Has great athleticism.
100. Cincinnati (4-12) Team Needs: WR, ILB, LG, SS, K, KR – Colin McCarthy, ILB, Miami: The Bengals need to improve the ILB spot and McCarthy presents great value.
101. Cleveland (5-11) Team Needs: RT, weakside LB, CB, RG, SS, K- K.J. Wright, OLB, Mississippi State: A pro-typical 4-3 OLB, Wright will help improve the Browns new 4-3 defense.
102. Arizona (5-11) Team Needs: QB, Rush LB, RT, CB, FS – DeMarcus Van Dyke, CB, Miami: Van Dyke has good size for a #1 corner and good speed as well. Needs to improve his zone coverage as he played almost all man at UM.
103. Philadelphia - from Washington (6-10) Team Needs: RG, CB, OLB, SS, DE- Will Rackley, OG, Leigh: Rackley completes the Eagles right side renovation. Rackley has good size and is an under-rated prospect.
104. Houston (6-10) Team Needs: FS, SS, WR, P, DL- DeAndre McDaniel, SS, Clemson: McDaniel is a ball-hawking SS that reminds me of a very poor man’s Troy Polamalu. He could become one of the best players out of this draft.
105. Minnesota (6-10) Team Needs: OLB, 2S, CB, RG, WR, LE, K, C, DT, TE- Tyler Sash, SS, Iowa: Sash is a blue-collar, extremely smart SS. What he lacks in athleticism he makes up for in heart and determination.
106. Detroit (6-10) Team Needs: OLB, C, SS, RB- Kristofer O’Dowd, C, USC: O’Dowd has the physical tools to be a very good center.
107. San Francisco (6-10) Team Needs: Rush LB, FS, WR, OT- Randall Cobb, WR, Kentucky: Cobb is a very talented player that can be used in multiple ways.
108. Tennessee (6-10) Team Needs: C, DE, Weak LB, SS, DT- Alex Linnenkohl, C, Oregon State: Linnenkohl has good footwork but needs to add some strength.
109. Dallas (6-10) Team Needs: RT, LG, SS, DL, WR- James Carpenter, OT/OG, Alabama: This is a great value for Carpenter. He has been a very good tackle for the Crimson Tide and will be able to play four spots on the OL in the NFL.
110. Miami (7-9) Team Needs: QB, TE, LG, WR, CB3, Rush LB, OL- Luke Stocker, TE, Tennessee: This is incredible value for Luke Stocker. He will give the Dolphins a receiving threat at TE.
111. St. Louis (7-9) Team Needs: RG, SS, TE, RB, CB, DE- Steve Schilling, OG, Michigan: Schilling has good size and strength but needs to improve his footwork.
112. Oakland (8-8) Team Needs: RT, LG, Strong LB, WR1, TE – DeMarcus Love, OG, Arkansas: Love is strictly a guard in the NFL but he fills a big need at LG for the Raiders.
113. Jacksonville (8-8) Team Needs: WR, Weak LB, QB, OL- Austin Pettis, WR, Boise State: I have Pettis as the highest rated WR available. Some Jaguars fans might prefer Edmund Gates but I think Pettis is a more all around WR.
114. San Francisco - from San Diego (9-7) Team Needs: Rush LB, FS, OT- Jeremy Beal, OLB, Oklahoma: Beal was once considered a day two prospect but a poor combine makes him available here.
115. Tampa Bay (10-6) Team Needs: RT, LG, Strong LB, RB, C, CB- Ross Homan, OLB, Ohio State: Homan is an under-rated OLB that will fit into a 4-3 defense like the Bucs.
116. New York Giants (10-6) Team Needs: RB, LG, WR, FS, P- Jaiquawn Jarret, FS, Temple: Jarret is the BPA at any position of need for the Giants.
117. Kansas City* (10-6) Team Needs: QB, LT, RT, C, RB, ILB- Derek Hall, OT, Stanford: Hall did a great job protecting Andrew Luck this year and could be one of the steals of this draft when we look back at it.
118. Indianapolis* (10-6) Team Needs: RT, WR, SS, RB, QB, P- Jeron Johnson, SS, Boise State: Johnson is a play-making SS that could potentially replace Bob Sanders.
119. Philadelphia* (10-6) Team Needs: CB, OLB, SS, DE- Shareece Wright, CB, USC: Wright is the BPA and fills the Eagles biggest need.
120. Jacksonville - from New Orleans* (11-5) Team Needs: Weak LB, QB, OL- Andy Dalton, QB, TCU: Dalton has a load of potential and with a year of developing he could replace David Garrard.
121. Buffalo - from Seattle* (7-9) Team Needs: DE, WR, TE, ILB, CB3 – Lance Kendricks, TE, Wisconsin: Kendricks is one of the best TE’s in this draft and is too good of value to pass up here.
122. Baltimore* (12-4) Team Needs: DE, RT, RG- Terrell McClain, DE/DT, South Florida: McClain would have to transition from 4-3 DT to 3-4 DE but he definitely has the athleticism and skill to make that move.
123. Atlanta* (13-3) Team Needs: WR, G, SS, strong LB, CB3, TE, DE- Terrance Tolliver, WR, LSU: Tolliver will give Matt Ryan a big, sure handed receiving threat to add to their offense.
124. New England* (14-2) – Edmond Gates, WR, Abilene Christian: Gates is the BPA and gives the Patriots a deep threat to spread the field.
125. New York Jets* (11-5) Team Needs: CB, ILB, WR, K- Chimdi Chekwa, CB, Ohio State: I don’t Chekwa projects as a #1 corner but he can definitely become a very good #2 corner.
126. Chicago* (11-5) Team Needs: LT, WR1, Strong LB, RB, DE, P- Ronald Johnson, WR, USC: Johnson has all the physical tools to become a #1 WR in the NFL and with proper coaching he will be a huge steal.
127. Pittsburgh* (12-4) Team Needs: OT, DE, FS, P- Davon House, CB, New Mexico State: House has the physical size of a Steelers corner and with Dick Lebau and Carnell Lake coaching him, he can be the eventual #1 CB to replace Ike Taylor. Until then, he can be our nickel corner or our #2 if Harris only becomes a nickel.
128. Green Bay* (10-6) Team Needs: DE, RB, WR, K- Ryan Williams, RB, Virginia Tech: I said earlier that RB is not a big need for the Packers, but at the bottom of round 4, Ryan Williams is too good of value to pass up.
Round 5
129. Carolina (2-14) Team Needs: QB, WR1, RDE, TE, CB – D.J. Williams, TE, Arkansas: Williams will give the Panthers an athletic, pass-catching TE that they haven’t had since Jon Fox.
130. Buffalo (4-12) Team Needs: DE, WR, ILB, CB3 – Greg Little, WR, UNC: Little is a day 2 talent but character concerns drop him here. Too good of value to pass up.
131. Cincinnati (4-12) Team Needs: WR, LG, SS, K, KR – Niles Paul, WR, Nebraska: Paul has a good combination of size and speed and gives the Bengals insurance incase TOcho leaves.
132. Kansas City - from Tampa Bay via Denver (4-12) Team Needs: QB, RT, C, RB, ILB- Pat Devlin, QB, Delaware: Devlin has all the intangibles but lacks the vision and size needed. With good coaching he could become a good starter.
133. Arizona (5-11) Team Needs: QB, Rush LB, RT, FS – Ricky Stanzi, QB, Iowa: Stanzi is an under-rated prospect who has the tools to become a starter but at worst, he is a solid backup.
134. Cleveland (5-11) Team Needs: RT, CB, RG, SS, K- Richard Sherman, CB, Stanford: Sherman can also play safety if needed but he will give the Browns a likely nickel corner.
135. Houston (6-10) Team Needs: FS, WR, P, DL- Bruce Miller, OLB, Central Florida: Miller excels coming off the edge and will be a big addition to the new 3-4 defense.
136. Minnesota (6-10) Team Needs: OLB, S, CB, RG, WR, LE, K, C, DT, TE- Brian Rolle, OLB, Ohio State: Rolle is at worst solid depth at OLB and at best is a very good starting OLB.
137. Kansas City - from Detroit (6-10) Team Needs: RT, C, RB, ILB- Brandon Fusco, C, Slippery Rock: Fusco is a small school sleeper that is very, very good. He could be one of the steals of this draft.
138. San Francisco (6-10) Team Needs: FS, OT- Sione Fua, NT/DT, Stanford: He is too good of value to pass up here. He can play DT or lose 10 pounds and play DE.
139. Tennessee (6-10) Team Needs: DE, Weak LB, SS, DT- Ahmad Black, SS, Florida: Black has the size to play safety in the NFL but needs to add some speed.

143. Miami (7-9) Team Needs: QB, LG, WR, CB3, Rush LB, OL- Andrew Jackson, OG, Fresno State: No QB’s are worth the pick so they take the best guard available who is Andrew Jackson.
144. Jacksonville (8-8) Team Needs: Weak LB, OL- Shane Vereen, RB, California: RB is not a huge need for the Jaguars but Vereen is by far the BPA and could be a nice complement to MJD.
145. Oakland (8-8) Team Needs: RT, Strong LB, WR1, TE – Kyle Hix, OT, Texas: Hix is an under-rated prospect that can play either tackle spot.
146. Philadelphia - from San Diego (9-7) Team Needs: OLB, SS, DE- Delone Carter, RB, Syracuse: Carter is built like MJD and will be a great power complement to McCoy.
147. Minnesota - from New York Giants (10-6) Team Needs: S, CB, RG, WR, LE, K, C, DT, TE- Jalil Brown, CB, Colorado: Brown has incredible size and smooth hips and will compete for a starting job in his rookie year.

150. Philadelphia* (10-6) Team Needs: OLB, SS, DE- Jonas Mouton, OLB, Michigan: Mouton is flying under the radar since he played for a horrible defense at Michigan but I believe that Mouton can be very good in the NFL.
151. Detroit - from Kansas City* (10-6) Team Needs: OLB, SS, RB- Jerrard Terrant, SS, Georgia Tech: Terrant will give the Lions a nice complement at safety to Louis Delmas.
152. Washington - from New Orleans* (11-5) Team Needs: RT, Rush LB, ILB, CB, RE, FS, RG, C, FB, K, P- Mark Herzlich, ILB/OLB, Boston College: Herzlich is by far the BPA and fills a big time need at rush LB.
153. Seattle* (7-9) Team Needs: SS, WR1, RG, QB, K- Shiloh Keo, SS, Idaho: Safety is not a huge need for the Seahawks but Keo is great value here.

157. Chicago* (11-5) Team Needs: LT, Strong LB, RB, DE, P- DeMarco Murray, RB, Oklahoma: Murray is a great complement to Forte and with both running behind an improved OL they could be one of the best tandems in the league.
158. New York Jets* (11-5) Team Needs: ILB, WR, K- Derrick Locke, RB, Kentucky: When LT leaves, Greene will have a great complement in Locke.
159. Pittsburgh* (12-4) Team Needs: OT, DE, FS, P- Joe Lefeged, S/ST, Rutgers: Lefeged can play either safety spot and special teams. He will push Ryan Clark for the FS spot and eventually replace him.
160. Green Bay* (10-6) Team Needs: DE, WR, K- Vincent Brown, WR, San Diego State: Brown is the BPA and if James Jones leave via Free Agency and if Donald Driver retires, Brown could get instant playing time.
Round 6

168. Seattle - from Detroit (6-10) Team Needs: WR1, RG, K- DeAndre Brown, WR, Southern Miss: Brown has major character concerns but with his size, speed, and route running ability he can become a star if Pete Carrol can control his attitude.
