Well, well, well. After a somewhat slow day of news in Steeler Country, looks like we got our number one wish before the end of the first day of free agency. Adam Scheffer is reporting that the Steelers and Ike Taylor have agreed on a new four-year deal that will keep him in the black and gold through 2014.
Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed, and of course, nothing is official until the news is confirmed by the organization itself. But looks like Steeler Nation has reason to celebrate as the six-time champs get ready to report to Latrobe. No longer must we worry about the Steelers squandering a legitimate chance at returning to the Super Bowl for a repeat try at Lombardi No. 7 due to a leaky secondary. Of course, the Steelers still have holes to plug, work to do and good fortune to break their way, but the primary obstacle to them not fielding a SB contender was the potential loss of Ike Taylor to free agency. Now, that appears as if it's no longer part of the equation.
Go Steelers! Go Kevin Colbert! Go Art Rooney II! Go Omar Kahn! Go Ike Taylor! GO, FIGHT WIN!
