The Steelers announced kicker Shaun Suisham has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his three field goal performance in Pittsburgh's 16-14 win over Philadelphia.
Suisham buried a 34-yard field goal as time expired, giving Pittsburgh its first come-from-behind win of the season. He also connected on a field goal from 20 yards and another one from 34 yards.
He is 8-for-8 on the season, heading into Pittsburgh's Week 6 game at Tennessee. He joins seven other kickers in the NFL with a perfect start (on eight or more attempts) to the 2012 season.
It's quite the turnaround for Suisham, who hit on 74.2 percent of his kicks in 2011, including just 6-for-11 from 40-49 yards. He's 2-for-2 from 20-29 and 40-49 yards this year, and 4-for-4 from 30-39 yards.
It's the first time Suisham's been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week, but he achieved the same honor in the NFC in Week 9 of the 2007 season when he was kicking for Washington.
