Giants Victor Cruz not the only one marketing a form of salsa

The last thing the Steelers want to see in their Week 9 showdown at the New York Giants is salsa dancing.

Nothing against the art form, but it's the signature celebration of Giants big play receiver Victor Cruz. He's compiled huge offensive stats and a familiar marketing ploy into multiple endorsement deals while becoming beloved in the Big Apple.

The Steelers don't really have such a signature. The closest Cruz's physical doppleganger, Antonio Brown, gets is cruising down the field after a big catch in a dramatic spin off the standard arm-thrust indicating a first down has been achieved.

In reality, the Steelers come very close to Cruz's hot licks. It comes in the form of salsa.

Running back Baron Batch, a proud Texan, is known for his homemade salsa, something Food Republic picked up on, and interviewed the Steelers' 2011 seventh round draft pick earlier this season.

In that interview, Food Republic suggested Batch give some salsa to Cruz, which he says isn't readily available for purchase ("It has to find you," Batch said).

"Ok. I may have to swing something," Batch told the magazine's web site.

As for the ingredients, Batch didn't reveal much except it's mostly tomato-based with green chiles, lime, habaneros and jalapenos.

"It's spicy, Batch said. "It has a kick to it. People don't understand spicy up north is different than spicy from down south."

Batch and the rest of the Steelers offense will face a pretty spicy Giants defense up north in New York. Depending on the status of Rashard Mendenhall, Batch may not be activated in this game. The Steelers have rotated their running backs consistently this season, but Batch has become more involved as the season has progressed. He scored his first professional touchdown in the Steelers' Week 6 loss at Tennessee.
