There's certainly enough riding on this from an emotional perspective, an unavoidable story line of this game. But for the Steelers, the personal motivation rests in the fact a win would be their third in a row, taking a 5-3 first half after a dismal start.
With a slew of winnable games to follow it, the game poses as another major road hurdle, right before the schedule gets a bit easier. As of now, it would appear the Steelers would be favored in their next three games (home games against Kansas City and Baltimore in prime time and at Cleveland). Then on the road at Baltimore, and back home against San Diego. The Steelers could win four of those five games, which, in an ultimately optimistic scenario, would put them at 9-3.
That scenario could still ring true with a 4-4 start to the year, but the NFL season often comes down to one game. That doesn't appear to be looking any different this season.
It's a big game, one that has signature win for either team written all over it.
