Multiple sources are confirming a fatal shooting involving a Chiefs player occurred at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City Saturday morning.
KCTV News is reporting the incident at Arrowhead occurred after another shooting away from the stadium at or around 8 a.m. CT Saturday. The news station reported the shootings were of a Chiefs player and his girlfriend. Allegedly, the player shot her, drove to the stadium, and shot himself. One report says the player's suicide occurred in front of Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel and general manager Scott Pioli, as confirmed by Jason LaCanfora, via Arrowhead Pride.
Steelers safety Will Allen tweeted Saturday, "Praying for Javon Belcher and his girlfriend, their respective families and the KC Chiefs." Belcher's name has not been confirmed as the player in question, but multiple sources have used that name in association with the shootings. (Update: Belcher has been confirmed as the shooter, and was pronounced dead Saturday morning)
Belcher, a fourth-year linebacker out of Maine, has played in every game of his career for the Chiefs, with 256 total tackles and a sack to his credit.
