David DeCastro prepares to make his first NFL start in Week 15

Steelers first round pick goes 14 games into rookie season before seeing the field in a significant manner, but will practice this week with the starters, and Ramon Foster shifts to left guard in wake of Willie Colon's injury.

Change is the only constant for the Pittsburgh Steelers as they head into the final fifth of the season with more injury concerns and roster shake-up.

Rookie David DeCastro is preparing to make his first NFL start in Week 15 against the Dallas Cowboys, as Ramon Foster shifts from right guard to left, filling in for Willie Colon.

Colon suffered a knee injury in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens, and missed the team's next two games. He tried playing on it in Week 14, a loss to San Diego, but left in the second quarter. He had surgery Monday, and could be out for the remainder of the season.

At the time, the Steelers were moving Maurkice Pouncey from center to left guard, and bringing in Doug Legursky to Pouncey's old spot. That provided little benefit to the team, and they could choose to go in a new direction.

The Steelers will give DeCastro reps with the starting unit, beginning Wednesday as the team returns to the practice field. While Steelers coach Mike Tomlin didn't guarantee DeCastro's long-awaited ascent to the starting lineup, the interior of the offensive line looked horrendous in Colon's absence, and any sort of change has to be embraced as a positive thing.

The Steelers (7-6) need to win two of their final three games, including their Week 16 game against Cincinnati, to qualify for the playoffs as the AFC's last wild card team.

If the playoffs began this week, the Steelers would travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens in the first round.
