NFL Draft prospects to watch in Russell Athletic Bowl between Rutgers and Virginia Tech

Russell Athletic Bowl - Virginia Tech vs. Rutgers

Marcus Davis, wide receiver, Virginia Tech - Davis, standing 6-foot-4, 232 pounds, is massive and has shown some flashes of major potential this season. For the year, he has 47 receptions for 891 yards and 5 touchdowns. He is currently projected to go somewhere between the third and fifth round because of a lack of route running ability and inconsistent hands. Averaging 17.7 yards per catch, he has primarily been used to run the go route and will need to show NFL scouts that he can run more than just that route to move his stock up.

Steve Beauharnais, linebacker, Rutgers - Beauharnais has been an incredibly productive linebacker for Rutgers over the past two years. At times he has been over-shadowed by two time defending Big East Defensive Player of the Year, Khaseem Greene, but the fans at Rutgers know how much Steve did for the Scarlet Knights. He is currently projected to go anywhere from the sixth round to being an undrafted free agent because he seems to lack the speed.

R.J. Dill, offensive tackle, Rutgers - Dill, a big tackle at 6-foot-7, 310 pounds, has the size and frame to be an NFL right tackle. However, he lacks lateral quickness to be a left tackle. He is projected to go anywhere from the fifth round to being an undrafted free agent and could use a good bowl game, along with a solid senior bowl, to cement himself as a draftable prospect.

Khaseem Greene, outside linebacker, Rutgers - Greene, the two time defending Big East Defensive Player of the Year and a third team All American, is a flat out monster who just makes plays. He is currently projected to be a top 50 pick and really has no weakness, except for that he is strictly a 4-3 OLB prospect.

Duron Harmon, safety/special teams, Rutgers - Harmon is an intriguing prospect who could really contribute as a special teamer in the NFL. He is limited as a safety and reminds me a lot of Steelers special teamer Will Allen. He will likely be picked sometime on Day 3 and will find a role somewhere in the NFL as a special teams guy.

Mark Harrison, wide receiver, Rutgers - Harrison, standing 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, is a big bodied wide receiver with great leaping ability. However, he is known at Rutgers as being a guy who can't really catch and that will need to be something he works on. However, because of his frame and speed (will likely run in the 4.4's), some NFL team will likely take a chance on him on Day 3 of the draft. He is a boom or bust pick.

Scott Vallone, defensive tackle, Rutgers - Vallone, a 4 year starter at Rutgers who has never missed a game, is an undersized defensive tackle prospect but he can flat out play. Because of his lack of size, he is projected as a late round draft pick or undrafted free agent but I could see him becoming a big steal. He has a tireless motor and never gives up on plays and he uses his hands tremendously well.

Timothy Wright, wide receiver, Rutgers - Wright, another big receiver at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, will go down in Rutgers history as the player who dropped a pass in two straight years that had he caught, would have likely sent Rutgers to go to their first ever BCS Bowl Game. However, despite having a serious case of butterfingers at the worst times, Wright runs very smooth routes and makes quick cuts. He has never been used well in the Rutgers offense but I could see him catching on somewhere as a late round draft pick or undrafted free agent.
