Ike Taylor Injury: Fibula injury could keep Steelers cornerback out 2-6 weeks

Taylor has started every game for the Steelers since 2007, and Week 12 of the 2012 season was his 123rd consecutive regular season game appearance. He has an MRI scheduled for Monday. He would be replaced by Cortez Allen in the starting lineup if he misses extended time, which appears to be the case.

A source told Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio that Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor's fibula injury could keep him out for 2-6 weeks.

As a non-practicing and non-licensed medical know-nothing, I won't speculate as to what the injury is, but we don't often hear of injuries to specific bones that do not include the words "broken" or "fractured" associated with it.

Taylor was in a boot and without shoulder pads in the second half of the Steelers' 23-20 win over Baltimore Sunday. He has played in 123 consecutive regular season games for the Steelers, making every regular season start from 2007 to Sunday's win over Baltimore - or every game in which Mike Tomlin has coached the Steelers.

He would be replaced by Cortez Allen in the starting lineup, and Curtis Brown would assume the nickel back role.

The Ravens were clearly excited about Taylor having been out of the game. They attacked Cortez Allen relentlessly in the second quarter and a few more times in the second half. Allen let Anquan Boldin get behind him for a touchdown and was flagged for pass interference, setting up a Ravens field goal in the second quarter.

It's yet another injury to a Steelers starter, but the positive side is the fact the Steelers held the Ravens to just 177 (team) passing yards in the win. They still lead the NFL by a considerable margin in passing yards allowed per game (167 to San Francisco's 189).

Taylor is expected to undergo an MRI Monday.
