Maybe he needed a beer to think about it.
Maybe not.
Whatever the process was that led Steelers offensive line coach to accept the head coaching position at the University of Texas El Paso, his alma mater, Sean Kugler is reportedly returning to the college game, six years after leaving his offensive line/assistant head coaching position at Boise State for the NFL.
He coached in Buffalo until coming to the Steelers in 2010.
Kugler got lots of new toys for his soon-to-be-former employer, the Steelers, in the past two drafts. He famously joked at a post-draft press conference that he would "have a beer" and think about how he would use second-round draft pick, offensive tackle Mike Adams.
He also got offensive guard David DeCastro in the first round. And OT Marcus Gilbert in the second round went with center Maurkice Pouncey in the first round of 2010.
Kugler's worked the Steelers' offensive line, when healthy, to a decent level of success. Health has been the issue, however, and will continue to be something of a problem as the rest of this season plays out.
