Steelers.com just announced a three-year contract extension for Mike Tomlin. Steelers President Art Rooney II said

We are pleased to announce that Mike Tomlin will remain with the Steelers for at least five more years. Mike is one of the top head coaches in the National Football League and we are thrilled he will continue to lead our team as we pursue another Super Bowl title.

Mike Tomlin, silver-tongued as ever, said:

I am excited that I will continue to be the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers for years to come. I am grateful to the Steelers organization for the opportunity I have been given over the past five years to work and live in this great city, and I am excited to continue to work to bring another championship to the Steelers and the city of Pittsburgh.

This news was not unexpected but is most welcome nonetheless. I'm sure the lines would be extremely long to sign Tomlin up, should the Steelers not have been forthcoming. The ladies of Steeler Nation can breathe a sigh of relief. Not only do we have almost the youngest head coach (the Raiders, always troublemakers, hired Dennis Allen, who edges him out of the spot by a nose) but the finest-looking one. Steeler Nation joins Art Rooney and Mike Tomlin in looking forward to the pursuit of more championships.
